The flu and a cold are two entirely different things. One you have a runny nose and a cough (boohoo) amd the other kills 40k people in the us annually.

Dude that is really, really, lame! He always gets up to play the Rats and the last time we played them he had his best game this year. Man I hope he's not truly sick and gets some rest and is able to play in this game.

I envy you my friend. My immune system is horrible and has been all my life. I've been really blessed to not have caught this awful flu that's going around but I am just getting over a pretty bad stomach virus I had last week.

People around me can catch something and be knocked down for 3-5 days.... At the most, I MIGHT get a runny nose or a sore throat, for a few hrs, from it. My son and I have been this way our entire lives.

Of course there are the few exceptions, but overwhelmingly the flu does not kill perfectly healthy people. Most people who die from the flu are the very young, the very old, or immunocompromised people.

This ranks right up there with the Lions asking not to be flexed to the night game last week because of the cold at Lambeu. Hey Torrey suck it up buttercup you are going to have to work harder for those 50+ pass interference calls that your offense relies on. Man up because it playoffs.

    Buckle up Baby

There is no reason to complain about the turf at Heinz field I was there 4 rows from it Sunday night and it looked like golf course fairway grass. Which it should it was resoded at the end of November. If they keep a tarp on it for most of Saturday prior to game time, it should be in great shape, now once the game is over with, it could be ripped up pretty bad.

I'm the same way. Having a good immune system helps obviously but there are very easy basic steps to follow that will help you avoid getting colds. Wash your hands frequently and don't touch your face. Cold virus isn't air born so keep your hands clean and away from your face and you'll reduce the odds of contracting a cold greatly. I also load up on vitamin C at the first hint that a cold may be trying to take hold, knocks it out every time.

This concludes the public health announcement, we now bring you back to our scheduled program.

Maybe a repeat of the "stuck in the mud" Dolphins game a few years ago.

I thought the field issues were cleared up years ago. It may not be perfect, but it hasn't been the emberassing fiasco that it has been in the past.

The problem there was, that they put the new turf on the the old turf, and then got 2.5 inches of rain on top of it.

For the record, there is no such thing as "stomach flu." A bug that makes you throw up is not the flu, so a flu shot will not protect you from any virus that is intestinal.

If there is a stomach bug going around, my tip: drink tequila. Do about 3-4 shots per day to ward it off. This has helped me. Hard alcohol seems to kill the virus...no scientific proof of this, but Europeans drink Ouzo to do the same thing and they swear by it.

Well technically there are 2 types of the flu. One is "Type A" and one is "Type B". One effects your upper body like your head and sinuses and things like that and the other is more intestinal and MUCH worse in my experience. At least that's how a dr explained it to me. The last time I had the flu I told the dr it wasn't as bad as when I had it and puked a lot and stuff and the dr said it was because I didn't have the "type" that effects my stomach. I know what you are saying though but as far as the actual "influenza" virus there is one that certainly effects your bowels and things but people like to paint with a broad brush and do as Bobby was saying and fish for sympathy.

Technically technically there are 3 categories. A, B, and C. As you'd expect, A strains typically having the most severe symptoms with C being much less severe. 12to88 is correct. The "stomach flu" is not the flu (influenza). It's a misnomer, and it can be caused by several bacterial or viral infections.

Yeah I was agreeing that there wasn't such a thing as "stomach flu" but just saying there was a flu type that did effect your GI. And excuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me for not knowing about the other flu type. LOL! It's incredible how much medical knowledge exists on this board in the last few days. HA!

Back on topic if just for a minute. I am more worried about crap weather holding us back on offense. I think if we were able to play TO free we will have a great chance to win. Now with the weather slowing down our passing attack I'm worried big time. Hope the weathermen are wrong yet again.

Someone told me the field is a wreck. That with the rain certainly will slow some traction down for sure.

It can't be worse than it was in 07 on MNF against the fins. Man that was horrible. At least I sure HOPE it's not that bad. Have they played any high school ball or bowl games on it?
