    overview:
great win against a very good team.. defense stepped up big time today, and the offense was steady.... time to win the division next week!!!!!

    offense:
    1. great protection from the o-line... Justin Houston's sack was ben's fault
    2. speaking of the o-line. lost in the shuffle was the amount of times the announcers called dontari poe's name, which would be zero (0).... great job pounce
    3. all heath miller does is get open and make tough catches
    4. leveon bell got some pretty tough yds. out there
    5. no turnovers

    defense:
    1. Jamaal Charles was a non factor
    2. james Harrison was possessed in the 1st half
    3. heyward and tuitt will be a dynamic tandem for a long time
    4. Timmons was everywhere
    5. worilds made his presence felt when it mattered
    6. the best red zone defense in the league met the 2nd best red zone offense, and won

Good list. I'll add a couple thoughts.

Major game from the OL. This game had the potential to be a nightmare for Ben, but they kept him mostly clean. Beachum and Gilbert each had one mess-up (I disagree that Houston's sack was Ben's fault), but given the circumstances that's pretty good. Pouncey handled Poe well, and I didn't notice the guards, which is good. Except Foster's brain meltdown, of course.

Ironically, although our defense played well, I think we really missed Troy in this game. All those short passes ate us alive today. Our red zone D stepped up, but they got WAY too many yards, too many times. That's the kind of thing Troy excels at. Getting in there and blowing that stuff up. I know if I'm KC, I'm much more cautious about those kinds of plays to Troy's side.

Numbers were down, but the whole offense is flowing. KC worked to contain Bell and Brown. Wheaton had a couple big catches. Miller a bunch.

    Great ST coverage.

A Dri Archer sighting! I think he played one snap. He went out on a swing pass, and KC doubled him like he was Calvin Johnson. I don't know why he doesn't see the field more.

Tuitt slowly and steadily becoming a bigger part of games.

Very glad to see Shazier in there. He didn't do much, and actually missed a tackle or two in his short time, but he should be worked in. He needs reps.

If I had to find just one word to describe the play of the team today it would have to be "Balanced" ! The offense didn't light it up but they were able to move the ball and score, the defense stepped up when they needed to, one thing I hated seeing was a 3rd and 16 and it being made with little effort, that can't happen too many times. Heyward is a beast and by this time next season Tuitt is going to be a force as well, what a difference the run D is when McClendon is on the field and Cam Thomas is on the bench.

great job by the coverage teams... especially ventrone. he didn't make the tackles, but his presence forced returns side to side instead of upfield...

apparently archer is a record breaker... he's the first player to play for two teams in the same game:lolol:

    6. the best red zone defense in the league met the 2nd best red zone offense, and won

Which one is the Steelers...Sounds like the Steelers are the D, and KC the O. I would have never guessed for either...

Good list. I would add as well that Blake kept 7 points off the board and for the most part had a good game. Not great and he is not our answer but then again Taylor is not. TP not playing made no difference at all.

As i said previously the Steelers needed to shut down the run game which they did and can do as evidenced in other games. So far this year the Steelers D has risen to the occassion.

Gay was not taunting anyone and had a good to great game. He has become a ball hawk and a force to be considered and QBs will be watching for him in the future. He has become a baller

Heaths drop in the end zone was a bit surprising but not totally surprising. He has started his decline .. He does not have the sure hands he once had.

yes, as surprising as it may seem given our defensive shortcomings, we have the league's best red zone defense

And the team without a TD to a WR has the 2nd best RZ offense...weird...

Great game all around. It was touch and go throughout the first half.
-good oline play. I thought it was going to be a sack fest from Houston and Tamba.
    - Harrison was a monster.
    - Timmons was a heat seeking missle
    - AB being AB.
    - Heath being Heath

-don't like given up those long 3rd downs on defense. I thought we could get them behind the sticks we would be able to get off the field but it only happen once.
    - Blake is playing within the defense but if we had some about average cornerback play I could only imagine the possibilities.
    - Jarvis jones is worrying me. He just gets push around like a rag doll.

I think the td pass Heath missed was tipped. Not a big tip but Ben put so much mustard on it the margin for error was slim.

So long as you keep a team out of the end zone you have a chance to win. We actually have a pretty good balanced team between offense and defense. Should help us in the playoffs. I just said playoffs.. Getting giddy now lol

Have to tip my cap to the defense, kept the Chiefs out of the endzone all day, they made several huge stops, 4th and inches and 6 downs in the redzone after the fake FG.

We all know the secondary needs to be addressed but they have a foundation there to work with, Gay, McCain and Blake do a nice job and Blake broke up a sure TD today.

    Solid job today :applaud:

Actually, I think it was KC with the best red zone defense...read it in the what went right/wrong article on steelers.com. Man, #2 on offense and #1 on D, yet only 8-7. Stats can be misleading.

On the pass protection. I noticed that Adams was coming in A LOT as a extra tackle. Almost every series in the first half they were announcing Tackle eligible.

No signatures. Brown gave a few but most of the guys seemed all business. Wife took a good picture of Mel Blount and also Heath warming up. The coolest think was watching Tomlin do drills with the DBs before the game. I Have more respect for Tomlin after watching him today. Awesome experience. First game. Most certainly nor my last. The crowd the the people of Pittsburgh were great!
