I don't know if is just me, but Polomalu looks so depressed all the time! Like he is always down on him self. I never see him very fired up any more: always kicking dirt, swinging his arms, and with his head down. The whole defense at times doesn't seem to have any fire or motivation, and I believe that's a big part on Polomalu. He's a leader! I just don't think he is used to having the offense carry things. Anybody agree?

IMO, it's frustration over the fact that he's lost a step or two. He prided himself on being able to make the big play that no one else could, and now he can't. More PF calls against him this season, too.

Physical deterioration often leads to psychological distress.

The Steelers gave Polamalu a three-year, $20 million extension that saved Pittsburgh $4.5 million against the salary cap this year. I'm not a good numbers person so I don't know if releasing him after the season will be a big detriment to the cap like the Woodley deal was.

I truly believe Troy is walking away on his own accord after this season

When have you ever seen Troy get really emotional? Even in his prime, he wasn't very emotional.

Why did I read this in the voice of Frank Caliendo impersonating Ron Jaworski?

Most times after any play Troy is doing a Catholic crossing of his heart. Many times you don't notice it on tv. that he is doing a lot praying also.
He is one of the players, who at the end of every game, comes together to pray. He may be quiet but he is very vocal about his religion.

I think he is walking away after this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't already let the players know ala Bettis.

This what happens when players stick around too long, same thing with Ike he's always kicking himself too. They're both done they both need to walk away, it's tough to leave the big bucks that the steelers love to waste on has beens

With those two I think k it was more of not wanting their legacy as a Steelers to end 8-8. Both took pay cuts to stay here also.

I appreciate everything Troy has done for the Pittsburgh Steelers but what I see is a perfect example of a player that has decline before our eyes. I hope Troy retires after this season and go down in history as one of the best Safety in the league.

That's another thing, this team is too loyal they need to know when to cut the cord. Who cares what the has beens want, it's what's better for the TEAM. They want to make 1 player happy, while the other 52 are pissed about losing, cus this 1 player keeps giving up big plays or causes penalties which gives the other team their 1st down.

Really? You know for a fact that 52 other players are pissed because of what Troy makes? You're hatred of the Steelers and their FO is unbelievable.

Troy has seemed lost and confused, but that also characterizes our entire defense. I am not convinced that with a more solid team organization and execution on defense, once the newbies get it together and maybe one or two additions, that Troy couldn't fit somewhere in the scheme and still be effective. Being lost and confused is not physical deterioration; but not being able to make up for it with speed is an issue. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I agree . Great player who's time has past , he probably keeps trying because the Team asks him to come back . Time to let him know it is o.k. to go we will try and fill your spot high in this draft .

I think the Rooney's have demonstrated many times that they aren't afraid to do this...

If the youngsters step up and beat out the vets, then things will just fall out as they will.

How did you get money from this quote?, I was saying their pissed for Losing. 2 .500 seasons in a row is losing, according to Steelers nation. When they have 2 over the hill goats out there trying to cover young track stars you're going to lose a lot of games. They used to cut the cords just before players lost their step, but not anymore.

If they weren't afraid of still doing it, Ike and Troy would'v been gone 2 years ago.

Okay, you're certain that 52 other players are pissed about LOSING because of the Rooney's loyalty.
2 .500 seasons is not losing, it's 2 average seasons. 7-9 would be losing. If we're "losing" because of only 2 guys, there's a deeper problem. I'll take the Rooney's loyalty and 6 SB trophies, you can have the fantasy league and LaCrosse.
