Ike unlikely to start against Atlanta

I don't quite understand this statement from the author.

"Pittsburgh is in full-on playoff mode, knowing if they keep winning, they will win the AFC North".

I didn't mind bringing Ike back but lining him up against the #1 receiver so soon was a big mistake.

 

Ike should not be starting at all just due to the time missed, he needs snaps just not starter snaps, in no way shape or form do I want him covering Jones if he does play on Sunday. The Packers just did the absolute worst thing imaginable and tried to cover JJ with one man and jam him at the line. Atlanta doesn't have a threat at TE since Gonzales retired,, they use White in the slot instead but he has a gimpy ankle. I would keep Troy and Mitchell in coverage over the top and maybe replace Gay at nickel corner with Shazier if he can go full speed. That gives you a hitter in stopping the run which they will need and still gives you speed to cover White in the slot. Rotate Williams and Spence in there and you don't have to worry about having Troy play up near the line to give you an added guy in the box.

 

This is great news, and horrible news, now Gay will most likely be on the corner, pick your poison?

 

Yeah...Ike definitely is not the answer but is putting Gay on Julio Jones going to solve the problem? Is there any way we could do a game plan that would keep Safety help back with Gay? I'm not an x and 0 kind of girl, so I may be way off here.

 

kind of funny how just 2 short weeks ago people were praising and looking forward to ike's return (they must've missed the games before he was hurt), and now we have a good news thread about ike not starting

 

I love Ike and remember his first good year and we all thought he would take big money and leave. Ike stated "i WILL BE A STEELER NEXT YEAR" He kept his word and signed still again. Ike's time has gone. Let him out easy, like don't put him in

 

The Steelers should put Ike on IR, so he doesn't embarrass himself anymore he can't play.

I realize Ike is past his prime, but a lot of what makes Ike look bad is Mitchell.

 

Allen doesn't make the list either?

 

Ike's time has definitely passed. He may not have stolen as many balls as we all would have liked but. He has played as a great defender and broken up a lot of plays that would have shut us down.

 

put him at 5 but is on inj reserve now

 

With Jones and White, all our CBs will be in trouble. We have to blitz Ryan and put him on his back.

 

I think you have that backwards, Ike is already beat before the ball is even snapped, he can't grab on like he used to or it's a penalty.
