Thanks to da' beard for all he has done for the team. He's been one of my favorites the past few years. Shame he got hurt when we might need him, and his leadership, most.

For sure. Would've liked to have seen one more playoff run with him, but he did more for the team this year than I'm sure most of us expected. He'll be missed!

Kiesel is going to be missed greatly. His leadership cannot be replaced by anyone on this team. Unfortunate way to end a career. I just don't think he will play another down in the NFL. Father Time is always undefeated.

Yes he is but even with the low miles and his high motor this year most people are thinking this is another Aaron Smith type of thing. I will hold out hope just as I did for Aaron, Da Beard and Silverback. True Steelers to me.

Yes he is but it would probably take a miracle for him to rehab and be back in the NFL at age 35. He's not a punter.

Charlie Batch said yesterday that it would really just depend on if the team wanted to be faithful to him or patient enough or something like that.

Love the dude and appreciate all he has given... Some here didn't want him, but I knew it'd be a good thing. Sad to see it end this way.

Much props to the Beard, he beat the odds, low round draft pick becomes all pro starter, and locker room leader! Thanks for the memories!

Brett Keisel, Casey Hampton, and Aaron Smith...will we ever see a better 3-4 defensive line than that? Those were great times.

Big fan of Keisel here and I'm pretty bummed that this happened to him. I definitely want him to retire as a Steeler, which it looks like will probably be the case for sure.

Not a chance we see something like that again. Right now I'd just settle for 3 good players.

    Nice find.

He will be missed but yinz make it sound like died... Come on

I was just thinking about making a thread of him, Troy, James...and their futures moments before I saw this one.

Yeah a few weeks ago in Nashville as I was standing by the tunnel he walked out and I was sorta the first person to spot him and I said "DA BEEEEARD!!!" and he just pumped his fist at me and smiled and said "YEAAAAH!!!" then there was this guy wearing a shirt that said "Fear Da Beard" and the guy had a big beard himself and Kiesel walked over to it and started fluffing it for that guy! He's just such a humble and approachable guy and it really shows in how he interacts with the fans. As sad as it is to say though, his career is probably over and we are gonna have to move on. I bet there are gonna be some sick kids that will wind up better off because of the work he is gonna go on to do though. I could see him being really involved in charity. Even more than he is now. Actually I remember a few years ago a poster here actually got a donation for a friends sick child from Kiesel. Besides Heath he is probably the Steeler I would most want to hang out with if I got a chance to pick. He just seems "real" ya know?
