So we just wait until Tomlin decides to retire in however many years, no matter how well he does, because it is really hard to find a good coach?

Not at all. 12to88 has a whole list of better coaches! They just all happen to be under contract with other teams.

Ben and his motorcycle had something to do with that, plus, Cowher had obviously run out of steam, retiring at the end of the season. I get it, you like Tomlin and don't want him gone. I don't see it, but you're entitled to your opinion.

........and that's the thing. It IS hard to find a good coach, it's easy to find mediocre coaches. Why go through a dozen mediocre coaches to find a good one when you already hae a mediocre (?) coach. Screws up continuity.

so with that logic we need to blame the players for not carrying the team?

the players were drafted before and most of them are gone and you can't keep doing for abig amount of time , in a short period they were able to do it .. tomlin come in a situation that everything was in place , after some pieces fall off he started to try to do something ..what ....is in front of everybodies eyes

I wouldn't cry if Tomlin were replaced but, again, with who? Growing up in San Diego, I've watched, and laughed hysterically at the coaching joke that the Chargers have forced on this city and STILL have never won anything. Is that what you guys want? Make a change just to make a change? It needs to be the RIGHT change.

If that were to happen, I'd jump on the Chargers wagon before I would watch that whiner on Heinz's sidelines.

Fair enough. I was just honestly curious what people would think. I think on offense we should absolutely NOT be having these up and down performances. On defense it is more understandable. We are not a talented defense and even to call us a good defense is stretching things. Now I understand that Tomlin built this roster and players don't just "put" themselves on teams. So Tomlin is not without blame in this. Neither is Colbert. We COULD have had a better group of safeties on our roster but instead we have Archer, Landry, and also had Rainey. We've "reached" more than we should have.

For what it is worth I have no problem with those saying to keep Tomlin. I think it just goes to show you just how middle of the road he is. He's not terrible, but not great. I think the .550 of the last few seasons is truer to his real potential as a coach. Like biggbunch68 said, I don't think Tomlin gets the most out of his players. I think early on he was a change of pace and a players coach, something that got the players motivated. I'd guess that is style has worn out a bit and Tomlin doesn't appear to be one to adapt or change his ways. He has his idea of what he wants to do and he is going to force it, even if it isn't working anymore. As much as I love him, I get the feeling LeBeau is much the same way. Forcing the players to try and fit the system instead of tweaking a system to fit your current players and their abilities.

not really. Harrison, troy, ike, ben, keisel, and heath. that's 6 starters. I know that's not a lot but that's enough to get the leadership job done. especially on defense and that unit looks like they are lost. same d coordinator as cowher. I like the young talent. I still like our chances this year.

A.J. Smith hurt that team immensely in the Marty years. Chargers fans hate him like we hate the ravens.

You may get your wish. If the Chokers make the playoffs, they'll get rid of him.............too successful! (Marty Schottenheimer)

It would be interesting for one of those coaches to come to Pittsburgh and see what they could do with the personnel as it currently is. And Alex Smith was looking pretty darn good with SF and Harbaugh until his injury. That's why Reid picked him up. I don't think Reid has done anything to rejuvenate Alex's career.

When you say "chances" what exactly do you mean? Chances to win the Super Bowl or just make the playoffs? I mean it's possible that we could still make it to the playoffs but I don't see any way at all that we are true contenders. I say it is gonna be the pats. As much as I know you hate to hear that. LOL. Even though they lost today they just look like a much more complete team. I actually picked that today was a preview of the Super Bowl and said that GB would win today but NE would win the Super Bowl. My goodness if Rodgers played THIS defense??? Oh the humanity! LOL!

infact the ones that are still in shape (ben kiesel harrison )is the ones that are carrying this team . add brown and bell and maybe decastro the only good players drafted by tomlin but that don't have enough leadership

Hard to believe, but this is Tomlin's EIGHTH SEASON. Replacing him wouldn't be a "coaching carousel" situation. Eight seasons is a lot.

I would probably weep like a baby if we got Harbaugh. I just honestly can't stand the guy. He can win games though.
