mike adams to start over gilbert this week as per steelers.com. the last two games he started this year were record setters for ben. no sacks against during the colts game. thoughts?

I thought Gilbert was injured, thus the start isn't because of play. Adams has been good for the running game.

I'm not a Gilbert fan. I'd rather him be on his butt on the bench than on his butt on the field. So I'm fine with this. I mean Gilbert was gonna be on his butt most of the time anyway right? Although I don't consider Adams a world beater by any means.

THIS right here.. The run game is much better when Adams is playing RT. I expect this game to be alot of running so strategically this is a perfect fit against New Orleans

I like it, I've always felt Adams could be a good player. What I don't like is we just gave Gilbert a contract, so what happens if Adams continues to do well and takes his job for good, Gilbert just becomes an expensive back up or they release him after the season? Or does Beachum go back to swing man and they role the dice with Gilbert and Adams again?

Gilbert and Adams could both wind up falling in to that buyer's remorse category. I hope not though. They didn't break the bank for either of them and the guaranteed money was low right?

Not Adams, they haven't extended him yet. I don't remember the details of Gilberts contract but i think I remember people saying his cap hit wouldn't be much if they end up releasing him.

The fact that NO is allowing 6.0 yds per carry ,middle and right side bodes well for us. Adams is much more of a road grader than Gilbert.....cha-ching!

I'm a fan of Adams and I think he could eventually grow into a very good RT. He's got everything you want in RT. I think the running game is going to be even better with him in there.

it was because of injury. does anyone know what happened to gilbert? this was the first I saw of him being injured and not practicing. this also leaves us thin at a tackle spot for the game. AV possibly brought up?

He got tangled up with Foster on a play in practice. It'd be pretty cool if AV was activated. There was this guy...his name escapes me...he would really come in handy this week. ;-)

Indeed… THAT GUY could be handy in a pinch. Good thing we have Hubbard on the active roster instead. Can AV possibly be ready? I had thought of him as being about as much of a long-range development project as an NFL team would consider these days.

as bad as adams looked on the left side in pre-season and training camp, he has been fantastic on the right side this regular season...
as for gilbert's injury, I would really love to know how two players on opposite ends of the line get tangled up

What is frustrating to me is that we have nobody from this year's draft on the depth chart on the two weakest parts of this team: the offensive line and the defensive secondary. Either those were just terrible picks, or we just wasted them. I'll have to defer to the experts here to know which.

After the way Adams played today, we need Gilbert back. He is so weak for a big guy. We'll be drafting another tackle or two in the draft next year.
