He's my current underdog to root for.

Seems more like a tight end prospect, but maybe they don't want to dump too much on him.

    OT -> WR -> OT

You forgot DL somewhere in there. That's where the Eagles were using him. :)

I heard Tomlin mention him the other day. I couldn't even understand the words he said. LOL.

I mentioned this in another thread. they honored him this whole week for veterans day. if you don't know about this guy, he's one heck of a story.

he is a graduate of west point. played OT,TE and some WR for army. he was a captain in the army and did 4 tours in afgan. he was brought on to try out for the eagles as a DT. we took him right before the season and put him on the practice squad.

I read he is now 330 lbs. loves munchak and is dedicated to playing OT. he says the pass catching days are over. they had some pictures of him in practice over at steelers.com.. he's a lean looking 330. they love his work ethic, which I'm sure is aided by his military background. good for us.

again as I said in the other thread, thanks again to all you vets out there. I'm glad he's on our team and so are the rest of you service members.:applaud::flag:

YEAH! THAT was why Tomlin was talking about him Tuesday. I actually was thinking the other day that I forgot to start a Veteran's Day thread to thank everyone. I am sorry to all the Vets here for that. You guys all know who you are and I would like to belatedly say Thank You for all you have done, are doing, and will do for this country! You guys are the greatest force of humanity this world has ever seen.

Can he catch? TE written all over this guy.
I do not like tall OL, again the problem with the feet.

But he can't speed and quickness.

I am glad that Villanueva is on the team as well. It is interesting that he did not play football until high school while in Belgium. His Bronze Star with "V" device speaks for itself.

I dug this out of the dust rather than starting a new thread.

There is a comment on Steelers.com about Alajandro walking out out with Decastro, and that he is bigger in every way. I'm guessing the guy has hit the weights heavily for a year. He's been my feel good story for the last year.

I'm quietly hopeful that his development is one of the reasons that we didn't show any real interest in tackles this offseason. I root for all guys who wear the Black & Gold, but I REALLY want this guy to be good because of who he is and what he's done and sacrificed for the USA. 10 years from now, I want him to be a guy who is featured on NFL Network's "A Football Life" after a great career.

We had him in training camp last off season. Stand up guy, made it through a few cut downs, but I'm sad to say that he was getting beat by people who trained their whole lives to be professional football players. That was never explicitly stated, but it was highly inferred.

I wish him the best, but I just don't know if he is too far behind to catch up and play pro football at this point. We will see, but I can't help but root for the guy.

I just wonder if this isn't the path they are looking for Cameron clear? OT after some weight is put on? I will say AV is built like an OT. he drfinately looks the part after putting on a lot of muscle.

I'm so used to seeing army get pounded on the football field I didn't know they had anybody who could play... lol

But seriously though, I always pull for the service academy guys in the NFL, doesn't happen very often.

Could make a heck of a tackle eligiable at the goal line.

The roster has him listed at 277 pounds. I wonder how up to date that is?

Hey Win, sorry I missed the sry me in the first post in NOV! but, when it comes to Steelers all that matters is he is good and can help.

Someone said they hope he can catch up, well Staubach did 4 years in the Navy after school and he turned out ok. Hope ole Capt. V will be just as good.
Even if he is Army! ha-ha
