    According to Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals are signing Josh Mauro to their 53 man roster.

    I know Palmer is out for the season but replacing him with a DE seems a bit extreme even for BA.:hmmm:

    Why not cut Thomas and sign this guy to active roster. Thomas is terrible

    Well, he knew he was obligated by Arizona bylaws to draw from the Steelers pool, so it was either Mauro or Landry Jones. I think he'll get the last laugh. :roflmao:

    Money and the fact that Thomas plays nose. He's had a couple of "OK" games, but for the most part, yeah...

    I liked Mauro, he seemed to have some potential a blue collar type player. Is there anybody on the Steelers the Cardinals won't sign?

    i like d mauro .i don't understand why we didn't cut cam thomas .. (i would have cut him before the season ) . he will be surely gone after this season so why not change him now ? is a complete liability as he was in sdiego :hmmm:

    I'm not that familiar with the rules, but do they have to have permission from the organization to sign PS players or are they just there for the taking?

    I think PS players are there for the taking as long as the team signing them puts them on their 53 man roster.

    No permission required. A team can "poach" any PS player as long as he's signed to their 53 man roster.

    I would find it interesting to see how many of these PS signing actually result in long term stays with teams. I mean everyone is upset about Munchak's Johnson and now Mauro and possibly Howard Johnson but the possibility is that they will be released at the end of the season or maybe be given a try-out deal by one of the teams they did play for. One can only hope that they prefer having fours seasons and that the Steelers as an organization treated them well.

    Yay! We keep Cam Thomas and lose a guy who actually has potential. First Wesley Johnson, then Mauro. Who's next?

    We're not going to get better in the long run if we keep sub par vets over promising rookies just because they have experience.

    Do the Cardinals owe the Steelers some money, I mean seems like they are letting the Steelers scouting staff evaluate talent and then when everything is done they take over and sign the players. I'm thinking the Cards ownership is saving money somewhere by having the Steelers do all the leg work:hmmm:

    I agree. Given that the coaches get to see these guys day in and day out, I presume that Thomas' skills are far more developed and demonstrable than Mauro's (plus he can play NT). But at the same time, you hate seeing a guy that was bringing it in preseason (albeit against 3rd stringers) let go, and a guy who is basically phoning it in every week stay.
