Your right about we don't know what goes on in practice. But what I am talking about is what we see in games and in the Jets game we saw bad bad bad game planning on going after the Jets weakness. It didn't take very long into the game to see that we were not going to get anywhere running up the middle. There defensive line was dominating our offensive line and we kept doing the same types of plays.

And when losing into almost the 4th qtr why not go into hurry up offense.? Just some of the strange things this team does at times that just does not make sense. Even Dulac and Brochette are saying the same thing and are just dumb founded.

Any time a defense can hold an opposing team to 20 points, this offense should be able to win, they cant fumble, throw picks, and expect the defense to keep the opponent out of the end zone with short fields, If this defense can hold opponents to 20 points in all of these last 6 games, i'm good with that and will expect us to win....

The Jets played well. They showed alot of heart. Ben has came out and said that he could not throw deep. They had taken that away from him, hence the reason they were not able to exploit their weak secondary. The underneath stuff Ben was throwing was getting fumbled or throws were inaccurate. Of course this is execution and preparedness and perhaps the coaches are responsible but this Fire Tomlin and Haley crap just has to stop. People just make themselves look silly. If you can get up for the Ravens and coordinate a masterful game plan then it can be done every week. Just depends on whether the players show up or not. Maybe we should request all teams wear Raven shirts. We seem to get up plenty for those games lol

That's all part of the torture of watching the team, no?

As for the rest of this thread, I pretty much agree with everything BURGH34STEL and Busman said.

The defense only gave up 20 points. When that happens this high-powered offense should be able to win a game. Why can't they put up 3 TDs per game. Most wins (at least regular season) are going to require around 30 points.

Perhaps because he is busy preparing for the next game and not wallowing in a game that's over with? :lolol:

How about we start talking about the questions these reporters ask. None of them sound original. If I didn't know any better, then I'd say they peruse the message boards and build questions off of that. I love when Tomlin shuts down their attempts to create unnecessary drama. :lolol:

Me too, thats why so many of them aren't particularly fond of him.

And he's a 100% right about the turnovers, if that is indeed a common theme among those losses, it's no wonder, you don't win games in the NFL turning the ball over a lot.

Well then why doesn't he address or speak in generalities about how he plans limit turnovers and costly mistakes? I have had just about all I can take of the Buddhist in training answers, "we do not live in our fears." speak to what you are going to do about it. AB is a highly talented player but on punts if you see the coverage coming that fast and you have to sprint to get under the ball, wave for a fair catch let it hit and get out of the way. The percentages for successfully fielding a punt that looks like its going to bounce are really low make sure your returner doesn't chance it. Ben we know you like your shiny new toy but when you are in the redzone and space becomes tighter you have to either be on target or take a lil bit off the ball so if he doesn't catch it, it doesn't bounce into the air and get picked. Ball security, make sure you have the ball before you make a move, secure it because certain teams always go for the strip(see Ravens) trick plays have their uses but don't get cute and stupid when you are down by two scores and have a gimme at the 1 yard line. You want to put in a defensive guy put in the Mountain and let Blount follow him in or do a HB fake with a FB pitch to Archer where he can burn it to the pylon. Did I cover everything?

Why do you need him to say it? What does that help? Does it help the team? But then again, thats why I don't care about Hard Knocks and prefer that they don't ever do it in Pittsburgh, I don't have a burning need to know all the intricate details. I tend to think a lot of the media is kind of scummy, so it amuses me how he plays with them.

And there was nothing wrong with that throw to Bryant, the defender made a good play and batted it into the air. Naturally there was a Jet defender who dove and caught it right before it hit the ground because thats what kind of day it was.

I would think after the sample size that has been presented today that it would at least show that he has a plan to correct what seems to be a reoccurring problem for his teams. A simple coach do you think AB made a wise choice to field that punt in that situation? Well that is something we need to address so that all our special teams players are on the same page. Non specific but address the concern. Do I need a 12-step plan? No but less Haiku and more it will be a focal point going forward.

The Bryant pass was a bit high by his shoulder if I remember correctly and had some zip on it, but that is beside the point. You didn't draft a 6'4" WR to have him play the slot in the red zone. I know he is shiny and new but he should be fighting for jump balls, fades and back of the endzone stuff, saving the middle for Miller and Spaeth with big bodies who can block out DB or speedy guys like Moore to find soft spots in the zone.

Shakespeare summarized coach speak perfectly when he coined the phrase "sound and fury signifying nothing". Tomlin has mastered the art of saying nothing. He just says nothing more memorably than other coaches say nothing. He really should consider running for office. LOL.

Agree to disagree. He's not as completely vague as you make him out to be and lately have found him to be more forthcoming than usual.

i agree that when the ball is kicked off the coaches are just trying to make their plan work at that point, but what kills me about this team is how they consistently lose to bad teams and that i put on the coaches.

i just dont think Tomlin gets those guys up for lesser teams. they come out sluggish and have to play from behind every time. to me thats the coaches not having the players ready and focused.

i think if this team makes it to the super bowl they would win. why? because they would be playing a really good team and we know they are focused when the competition is better. the problem is getting there since they keep blowing it against bad teams.

Could it be Ben ? Not sure why we got into so many tight packages ,but it seemed odd ..Not sure why we went max protect so much ? It also seemed like one of those games we force feed Wheaton ,he does not play well nor does the Team when we do that ...

A odd game plan for sure ....I can see where Haley would differ to Ben as Ben is the Franchise ,if he says he hates Haley then Haley will probably be gone , so is Haley afraid of Ben ? I tell you why I think this 3 weeks ago Ben was calling 25 % of the plays and we went a lot of no huddle , we stopped that and went to scripted plays to help Bryant and the Offense exploded .....I just think Haley needs to Coach and Ben needs to play , let Haley draw up the plays and let him decide the plan of attack I don't think Ben needs to be involved with that aspect..

So then AB practiced fumbling the ball?

Do you really think for a moment that AB needs practice holding on to the ball?

Players do not take an opponent seriously all week during practice and then take them lightly on game day. The lack of focus evident during the game will be evident in the week leading up to the game. The turnovers are not the disease ... they are a symptom of the disease.

How do you know they didn't practice well? Keisel said they had a very good week of preparation. You can choose to believe he is lying but the fact is, you don't know how they practiced. AB is notoriously known for working hard, so are several other player on the team. I also don't believe any coach on the staff would let these guys go easy in practice.

Because they didn't play as if they were focused. A player can have a bad day, but when an entire team or unit craps the bed all at the same time, that's a lack of focus.

They're soft. That's on the staff.
Against the Ratbirds they got their mojo back, because they had to. Baltimore had been beating us @ our own game.

I think the STEEL is on it's way back, albeit painstakingly slow.
