I am sick over this game because I thought these were behind us. I see a lot of people on here blaming the game plan and coaching. I know tomlin has his faults and I really don't want this to turn into a debate on whether or not he is the right coach.

the jets have the worst secondary in football so I was gonna be disappointed if we didn't throw it 50 times. I don't think game plan was the problem. I don't think play calling was on either side of the ball. this game to me is all on the players.

the coaches weren't the ones out there going at 3/4 speed. they weren't the ones throwing into coverage or getting pushed back at the 1 yard line. I see a lot of posts criticizing lack of play action pass at goal line but the first play was just that. heath was first option and covered. looked at the other te and then went to Harrison. I thought blount would be a good goal line back but he now has decided to bounce everything.

I am calling out ben, brown, oline, 90% of the defense. I cant remember when I have seen a steeler defense run the way they did today. I cant believe how many I seen jogging around today.

with the roster size its not like the coaches can bench people for not busting butt on every play but today was ridiculous.

I think we will be fine in the long run and I still think tomlin is right man. last week we were all happy and this week we are as low as it gets.

I can honestly say that I'm not nearly as sick over this game as I usually am over a loss. I honestly felt like this was a perfect trap game and I've just came to terms with the fact that this team has enough holes in it that I really shouldn't "invest" too much emotionally in to it. There were parts of this game today where I was literally laughing because the lack of professionalism by the players today was just that: laughable. I mean for Suisham to MAKE a 53 and MISS a 27? It's ridiculous. For us to get a drive going and a pro bowl caliber center to snap the ball over the head of a 6'4 mammoth? That is NFL Folly material. There's just really no need for me to get so mad anymore because I know this team has a ways to go. The thing that honestly makes me the most mad is to lose to such an idiot as Rex Ryan. If this guy is really some football genius then why did he draft Mark Sanchez AND Geno Smith? I mean really dude. Come on. He's a flashy mouth and that's it. Wheaton needs to seriously take a seat or something. It is ABUNDANTLY clear that him and Ben are just NOT on the same page. It barely looks like they are on the same FIELD! Bump Bryant up the depth chart and show some dang aggression! If we would just come out and establish that we at least are gonna TRY and throw it deep that might open things up for Bell which would in turn open things up for Bryant and the rest of the guys. That makes sense to me. Apparently not to Haley or Tomlin though.

Do you think Tomlin should take that power away from Ben?

That right there is why we are mad. I don't understand todays game plan at all, yes, the players were bad but they also didn't attack the Jets at their weakest point.

How often does Tomlin do that though? It just seems it is so very rare that we come out against a team and play to their weakness. I don't know if it's philosophical from Tomlin or what but it's just like there's no plan of attack for the other team's weakness.

We did it under BA as well. So I don't think that is a Haley trait. Honestly the Rooney's a have a little something to do with it. Charlie Batch has flat out said that Haley was brought here to run the ball. So that is a lot of why we do it I think. If you look at Haley when he was in AZ they were great at passing but not at running. They might even have been ranked dead last in rushing.

OC's game plan, Blount, the coach takes it, tweeks it and signs off on it but thats the OC's job. I really doubt Tomlin is scrapping the OC's game plan each week and putting his own in.

And I don't recall that being the case with BA. The biggest thing I remember with BA was his situational play calling.

Literally I can count on about one hand the times that we've played to an opponent's weakness. I was actually saying in the game thread today that I can't think of many times we've done it. Yeah the situational play calling was bad under BA too but generally his gameplans made no sense either. That is why the Rooney's let him go. Can you actually think of the times that under Tomlin we've played to the opponents weakness generally? I honestly can't. I just feel like Tomlin is of the philosophy that he wants to play to OUR strengths. The New England game in '11 is the time I most remember us beating them at their own game. On the other hand that Cleveland game in 09 where we literally threw it over 50 times in sub zero conditions and lost to Brady Quinn. That was completely stupid. So I can think of both ways. I just can't think of us consistently playing to their weakness.

these losing teams always get firsts against us. I heard that the jets secondary was bad but they basically shut our receivers down. Then teams haven't a first down in 4 qtrs, or haven't had a opening drive result in a touchdown, but when it comes up against us they get everything

But Wheaton has had more time than him. Also Bryant is much more of a threat than Wheaton. Don't you think he changes the way the defense thinks when he is on the field?

It never ceases to amaze me how it's not Tomlin's fault that his teams keep showing up for games unprepared, lacking focus, and playing like they barely give a damn.

If Tomlin isn't running our offense ... and he's not ... and he isn't running our defense ... and he's not ... then what exactly do you figure his role is if it's NOT to make sure that his team is ready to roll at the opening kickoff and sustains that focus and effort throughout the game.

What exactly does Mike Tomlin do? What is he responsible for?

Jets seconday are not as bad as the media say they are. They only allowed two 300 yard passing games to Aaron Rogers and now Roethlisberger. The Jets offence is responsible for those short drives on the defence because of turnovers. Jets has a very good d in my opinion especially they've had a very tough schedule.

The Jets hadn't stopped a team from scoring in the redzone all season ... until yesterday.

The Jets Defense isn't the reason for their poor 2-8 record. The Jets turned the ball over and over again within their own 20 yard line. The fact that they faced super qbs on their schedule would make you think twice about calling their defence or secondary weak.

I am not saying he gets a complete pass but come on when u are at ur job do u need a rah rah speech from ur boss every week to perform? These guys take pride in what they do and yesterday they took a day off.
Players play. I have seen players play their butts off and not have a chance because of coaches having them in bad situations. That was not the case yesterday and if u think it was then I guess we have to agree to disagree

Being a HC is a lot like being a CEO of a company but here's a break down of Hairballs week as a NFL HC. Lot of meetings, film watching, media responsibilities, ect.
