Ravens lineman Jeremy Zuttah was also fined $8,268 for his personal foul (punching Cam Heyward in the face).

The only Steelers player to receive a fine from the game was Vince Williams. $8,268 for taunting.

Just another example of NFL bias against certain teams and when I say certain I really mean us.

Sugg should have been fined 25K for that hit on Blount. His full intention was to injure. He is the worst player in the league when it comes down to dirty play.

You could also say he's the worst person in the league and you wouldn't be overstating things. He's a thug. Plain and simple.

What I'd like to know is what magical bs formula results in A) an $8,268 fine and B) equates a late, intentional blindside hit intended to injure with a taunt?

Suggs taunted our bench. Was he fined for that?

Wait, he taunted after he committed a blatant penalty.

No problem with the amount. That's the negotiated amount for the first offense, like it or not. You know he'll appeal and we won't know whether he wins it or not as it''l be water under the bridge by then.

These amounts aren't just pulled out of thin air, it's negotiated in. It has nothing to go with Goodell

I know that but what genius decided a fine for taunting should be equal to a PF penalty? And where is Suggs fine for taunting our entire bench?

    Goodell is a joke.

I still didn't see that what VW did was that bad. Did I miss something?

And Thuggs should have gotten an additional fine for taunting the fans by playing air guitar during Renegade!

In every pro sport, making contact with an official is basically one of the worst things a player can do, and rightfully so. Officials can never be intimidated by the players or the integrity of the game is at risk.

Doesn't matter, any contact with an official needs to be worse than fouls against other players. It's that way in every sport and should be that way

The league execs create the fine schedule for the year and send it to the NFLPA for approval. The NFL officiating department reviews the plays, and refers any potential violations to the operations department. According to the league, Executive Vice President of Football Operations and the Vice President of Football Operations are the ones who decide whether or not to issue discipline. Goodell has final say on player discipline. I did read that he was trying to change that in light of the Ray Rice scandal.

How they come up with the strange numbers is anyone's guess. I've posted this before, but here's the 2014-15 fine schedule.

Looks to me they could have hit him with Impermissible use of a Helmet or Hit on a Defenseless player..

Is it some kind of percentage of average salary? The numbers they come up are very odd if they're being pulled out of thin air, but would make more sense if it's a percentage of something.

Thanks, TTF - knew we could count on you to dig up that info.

But the question still remains - how do they put a late hit/face mask/kicking/low block/chop block on the same level as taunting? Seems unbalanced to a great degree.
