Super Bowl 43 rematch, Steelers vs. Cardinals. James Harrison comes literally out of retirement to lead the Steelers' defense back to the big game along with another ageless wonder, Brett Keisel, who was on his way to Arizona to sign with the Cards before calling Colbert and working out a deal with the Steelers. Bruce Arians, head coach of the Cards, unceremoniously "retired" from the Steelers and replaced with the former OC of the Cardinals the last time they were in the Super Bowl, Todd Haley. Carson Palmer, the grizzly veteran quarterback who had his knee blown out by the Steelers a few years ago, essentially derailing his career in Cincinnati. The storylines are endless and are the stuff of NFL legend. Wow! Let it be! :praying:

If this would happen,I would suggest the Steeler FO give Kimo a call and see if he has one more game left in him.

Jack, I was just thinking about this earlier today! They were talking about BA on ESPN this morning and the job he is doing, I thought how funny would it be if the Steelers and the Cardinals go to the SB this year :lolol:

I was thinking today that it would be crazy to play BA in the Super Bowl. I've never liked him so I would love to beat him. I bet there is no team he would rather beat more than us. I would love to see us go and use a methodical gameplan against him with plays that actually make sense and show a balanced offensive effort. You know, the stuff he VERY rarely did while he was here. Also it would be awesome for my boy Haley to beat AZ. I really think AZ would have lost yesterday if Romo had been healthy. I think their passing attack could probably eat our corners up though. Also their defense is pretty dang good too.

I hate to be yinz's kill joy but I think yall need to put some things into perspective.
First of all, there is A TON of season left. Secondly, most everyone on this message board (including me) thought this whole team needed to be blown up and every coach plus the GM fired.
Now we're talking Hollywood script with magical outcomes? Send me some of those rainbow unicorns along with your happy gas.
Yes, this team put together some very impressive offensive numbers as well as a defense that finally arrived but if anyone thinks this team is a lock for the playoffs and SB then you are getting way ahead of yourselves at this part of the season.
Heck, this team could easily play down to the Jets (we've all seen it before) and then we're right back for the calling of heads.
Let's hope they don't do that though and they continue to put the gas pedal to the floor.
Let's not forget, this is the NFL and any given Sunday always applies no matter what the teams are playing.
I'm all for the rematch but doubt it unfolds that way. If yinz are this overjoyed this early in the season then I suggest you hit Vega$ soon.
As for me I take it one game, one play at a time. Any other way makes me look very foolish.

I don't think anyone thinks this is a gimmee- but it is fun to think about what COULD happen, especially now that we seem to have stumbled on a few things that make us a formidable opponent.

I think everyone realizes it's a hypothetical. I don't expect us to go to the Super Bowl this year. However, without hypotheticals, message boards would be pretty sparsely populated communities. The "irrational" things we say make just as much difference as the "rational" things we say. Which is zero. UNLESS the coaches are stealth members of the board and actually take their gameplans from us. Given the way we played against the bucs, rats, and clowns I really wouldn't be all that surprised. LOL.

I'm right there with you, but I am enjoying the last 2 wins. I didn't want this team blown up. In fact, I always thought we had enough talent, I just thought our problems were in other areas. I said in another thread that the game against the Jets is going to tell us a lot about our team. Have we finally turned the corner, or are we still that team that has trouble getting ready for games and plays down to the competition? That will be answered when we play a bottom feeder. We don't need to smash them, because that's not always possible in any pro sport, but we do need to come out and play good football and show we are the better team in all areas.

It's crazy to think that a matchup against a bottom feeder tells me more about our team than games against the Colts and Ravens, but that's the kind of reputation this team has these days.

Minus the 51 point explosion, this team is shaping up exactly as I thought it would and I never wanted any coach fired.

That said, it's just a fun thread but it's also not impossible, both team are playing very good football.

I don't know or care if the Cards make it to the SB. I am pretty sure we can beat any NFC team that gets there. As far as the Steelers getting there I, think they will. The team is coming together and they are playing Steelers football. The biggest problems I see are New England and/or Denver, neither being impossible to handle. I think every game is super important because a number 1 or 2 seed and home field advantage is not out of the question. I know it is early and many thing can and will happen, but things are starting to go the Steelers way and I believe they will continue to play well. I know a lot of you will disagree but I haven't cared what anyone else thinks for going on 7 years now so it will be what it will be. (Super Bowl # 7)

The one glaring problem we would have with Denver or New England is we don't have anyone who can cover Gronk or Julius Thomas. Browner is big, fast and strong enough to shut down Julius, but we don't have anyone like that. Shazier is too small and Timmons is too slow. There's no way our safeties could cover those guys. We need someone like Browner or Kam Chancelor to shut down guys like Gronk or Julius.

I do NOT, under any circumstances, want to see New England as our opponent in the AFC Championship!

That's true, but I don't believe in one single player being able to beat you, other than the quarterback. The Steelers are the number 3 ranked offense while Denver is number 5 and New England is number 10. I know the Steelers numbers are up because of the last two games but I think, if the wheels don't come off, this offense will continue to produce at a high level. So while it would be difficult to shut down Gronk or Thomas. how difficult would it be for either the Pats or the Broncos to shut down Brown and his two new sidekicks?

The way they are playing now I would agree. But I would sure want to play them at home not in New England, which certainly is a possibility considering the current records of the teams and their remaining schedule. New England is or has peaked and it is way too early in the season for that to be happening. A lot of things need to happen for a SB win for the Steelers but I've lived long enough to know stranger things have happened.

Honestly, I hope we don't have to find out. As you know, I'm a betting man and I don't like our odds of beating Denver or NE, especially if we have to go into their house. Hopefully another AFC team can knock those two out

Living in AZ and practically in the shadow of the stadium, which I have only been to when the Stillers are there....The cardinals will find a way to screw up thier season. Aside from when they met us in the SB, they always do.

I don't even want to think about a home game for AZ in Feb against the Steelers. I just want us to beat the jets.

One game at a time, let's control our own destiny and let the chips fall where they may...

But, if it does happen, I will have some rooms to rent out close to the stadium
