Honestly I think it has ZERO to do with cost. For every man, woman and child that cant make it nor afford the experience there will be many to take their place. You would think that but its just not true.. In some respects I wish it were the case.

We "did have" in the past tense a way of intimidating opposing QBs .. We can't anymore because of changes of how the NFL operates.. So I still don't get the hate for Tomlin. I am kinda offended because you use such strong adjectives sometimes to explain your feelings. Hate is a pretty strong word to be using with respect to this team.. But hey.. Whatever you need to do..

Offended that I hate a football coach? I hate him as our coach, just like I'm sure many people on here hate Haley. It might be a strong word, but it pretty much describes my feelings perfectly

Cowhers players didn't get fined for breathing on another player. I know you'll point to Seattle and maybe SF but even those two teams don't hit like we used to. The new rules really have neutered this team. When they started cracking down on that stuff, the very first thing that popped into my head, there goes our intimidation.

If I were a player today, I wouldn't fear any team, not even Seattle because you really don't have to be worried about getting lit up anymore.

I live in New England, so it's a hike for me to get to a home game. As others have said, couple the ticket prices with hotel, restaurants, gas, etc, and it gets pretty expensive. I was very close to heading down for the opener against Tennessee last season. Only an unavoidable work commitment that I had to be there for 1st thing Monday AM stopped me from doing it. When I saw just how poorly the team played, I was relieved that I didn't go. That would have been $1,500+ tossed into the wind. Yeah, my wife and I would have enjoyed the Saturday and Sunday AM in the city, but the game would have killed it for me and I would have been ticked off and grumpy the rest of Sunday and for the drive home Monday. I really want to come down for a game or two, but I need to see a product being put on the field that I can at least count on to consistently compete (win or lose). Right now it's just wildly unpredictable.

Offended that he is a person and if I am not mistaken in another thread you called him a waste of skin or something similar. Just don't like how you throw that word around. He is a coach.. a person. A human.. Get it?

He beat the brakes off of Ben for a while too, I wouldn't be too worried about his hatred for Tomlin. As soon as Tomlin turns things around, which looks like it's going to be pretty soon he Will move on to somebody else. I'm thinking steely McBean is the next in line. LOL…

Yup.. Worst case scenario is Tomlin moves on Steelers hire a new coach whether it be defensive , offensive and here we go again. rinse and repeat. In my career as a fan I have never seen as much coach talent assembled as we have now. OMG ... It does not get any better than this.. Lets tear it down and start over lol

Great ideas Glen. It is ridiculous to pay the money we sometimes pay to see our team. Especially when so many tickets get unused.

The problem would be that with the PSLs I don't think that the Steelers could confiscate your tickets (and PSLs) for not showing up. You bought them, you own them and can do whatever you want even if that means burning them and flushing the ashes down the toilet...as long as you are not conducting yourself in an inappropriate, offensive, or criminal manner.

I ain't no Lawyer, but I'd imagine they would have a field day suing the Steelers if they tried to confiscate what you paid for for something which isn't inappropriate/illegal.

With my plan they would pay the PSL holders what they originally paid for their PSL. It seems pretty silly to have a 20 year waiting list for season tickets when as many people as they say are not showing up for the games.

I still don't like Ben, never will. The guy may not have raped anyone, but I think there's a very high probability that some form of sexual abuse happened that night. Best case scenario, he made it a habit to degrade women. If he wasn't a Steelers this whole site would be all over him, and if he wasn't an athlete with a buddy who is a cop, he would have been arrested. He doesn't get a pass from me just because he's a Steeler.

Thanks to you Glen. I explained my reasons for not going to more games. One of those reasons is mike Tomlin. Apparently in your eyes we can all share our reasons for not going to more games, unless one of those reasons is mike Tomlin, then it's hijacking. I clearly explained myself, that it isn't wins or losses, but it's the direction of the team.

Don't worry though Glen, I'm to the point where I'm ready to not post here anymore. It's no longer fun having to constantly defend myself simply because my opinion doesn't match yours.

It's okay to hate ray Lewis and Roger Goodell and call them every name in the book, but the same rules don't apply when it comes to the steelers. Whatever.

If I thought for one second that Ben raped that girl, him being a Steeler would have squat to do with it. They had zero evidence to press charges, that and only that was the reason no charges were pressed. That cop lost his job, he had no influence whatsoever on the outcome.

This might explain your silence for the last few days.. you mean your not going to post here anymore because you just cant take the abuse of watching your favourite team lose lol

Omg.. Get a grip.. It's not like it matters that much.. you have a job.. presumably kids and a wife.. How will you tell them

I have a family of 5 myself and being out here in California we were getting up into the thousands range and that's not very doable for us to go to the burgh. I've refused every california game they appear in because I want to see them in a proper setting, and don't care for the cesspools of Oakland or San fran. I might have to settle for a charger game with them someday as I don't see prices going down. Just like any other league, they need fans but don't give a rip about em. Just their money and as long as they have guaranteed sells going to firms and corps they'll never come back to the little man.

I think there are multiple factors why people don't show up for games. Most of which probably revolve around the financial impact of attending games.

The price of the game is getting expensive for a lot of people. Especially, in a time where most people's salaries haven't kept up with inflation.

The cost vs enjoyment/entertainment is out of balance. If someone spends a lot of money to attend a game and the team loses or plays poorly then that person might not want to spend large coin to see a game again.

Many people who own tickets probably wanted to flip them for a profit. Maybe to pay for the PSL or simply to make a profit.

The game translates better on TV for a lot of fans. Why pay money to watch games live when people can watch with the comforts of home?

The only way for the NFL to fill the seats every week might be to lower the concession and ticket prices. That will cause a decrease in revenue for the owners. How could the owners make it with a few less million dollars?

You know, there should be some kind of system where if you can't make the games or sell your tickets, you notify the stadium and they have up to 15 minutes after kickoff to sale them. The PSL holder gets whatever money from the sell, and the Steelers make money off of more fans in the stadium through add on revenue, concessions, merch, etc

That sounds like a lot of hassle for the Steelers though.

Something as simple as if you miss more than two games a year over a five year period (not counting preseason) you 're refunded the original price of the PSL and season tickets starting the following season.
Lots of understandable things happen to make people miss games. Stuff like "I might have to suffer through a loss" or an 8-8 season or "I don't like Tomlin " is not an acceptable excuse. You buy tickets to attend games, not as a platform to express your dislike of the way the team is being run. (Boycotting games. )

I get people that are displeased with the team choosing not to buy overpriced tickets for what they feel is a waste of their hard earned money.

What we are talking about here is people who have already bought tickets and are not attending games and at the same time screwing people who are on a 20 year waiting list.
