I may sound like a conspiracy nut but I think they purposely keep Worlids from rushing the QB a lot to keep his numbers low so they don't lose him to free agency. He wants to get a big contract and so the Steelers want his stats to show more mediocrity. The few times they do let him loose he has made plays but the realist side of me makes me think that the secondary is so poor that they have to have LBs help in pass protection. As for this game they need to let him go and consider he will walk next season because there is no way we stop the colts offense, we can only hope to keep pace scoring.

I think it would be a stretch for the organization to intentionally hold him back. His sack numbers are not good because they often drop him into pass coverage. As for Indy and their offense I agree they are good but they are beatable. Houston has the number 3 back in the league and a good WR in Johnson ..

We are indeed underdogs but any team can be beat at anytime

Yep we need to get pressure with less guys , our CB'S are well below average and we will need a of of man/zone coverage ....I would put Brett, CT, Harrison, and Big Dan in a 4 man look , invert the Safeties put Troy and Mitchell in the box and get more speed in the cover 2 and 3 deep with our CB'S...

Either way we are going to give up tons of yards so we need to keep them out of the endzone and score TD'S when we get down there...

We need to come up with something like we did the game against the Pats a few years ago. I think we played man to man defense or something bizarre and it WORKED. Our standard package D is not going to cut it against Andrew Luck!

Here's a radical idea ... how about our guys simply beat the guys opposite them?

Tight man to man works well against Brady because he relies so much on timing and he wants to get the ball out of his hand within 3 seconds. When his WR's are jammed at the line, it disrupts the whole offence. Andrew Luck isn't as dependent on structure like Brady is. Luck will gladly hold the ball for 7 seconds while scrambling, then he'll throw a 40 yard bullet to TY Hilton, or he'll run for the first down. NE's offence is very structured and methodical, whereas Indy's isn't to the same degree. Simply jamming guys at the line wont' disrupt Luck much

No worries, it's hard to jam a guy when playing 10 yards off the line.

The bottom line is Ben and the Offense better come out of they're starting the game in a coma and ramp it up from the jump. Another slow start and we will be talking about another loss. We might be anyway. Cro magnon Man is the real deal. And will only get better. The Colts could be this years Super Bowl representative for the AFC.

Most here sound like I last week with JJ Watt..thinking Ben would be laying on the job ..So i will play the same card with Luck. Theirs no way we will contain nor rattle him. We struggle for a loss. :lolol:

Maybe they need to get mental on Luck, does he have a girlfriend or wife? Trash talk him to death? That's about the only pressure I can see us putting on him. If we get no other help from Joey Porter, the art of trash talking would be enough. Learn from the best.... but also learn to back it up.

OLBs will have to be on point, in this game. Hopefully, they put McCullers in to blow up the Colts' center, clog the middle of the line and disrupt the backfield. OLBs will have to contain Luck. The secondary will have to hold up for 4-5 seconds, if the aforementioned can be achieved.

no way can our guys hold up for 4 or 5 seconds ...Whoever Cortez is on might break the NFL record on Sunday ..We can still win , but Luck may very well throw for 450 yards if we keep the game close..

And to the poster suggested man to man like we did the Pats we would get super torched...We had better coverage guys then and was a quick strike O based on timing a totally different thing this week...

We do need to play man , but we need coverage behind it all over the field.

Good point. But I'm expecting Luck to at least have enough time for a 5 step drop and maybe: 1) move up in the pocket or 2) scramble. That's at least 4 seconds. DL and the secondary are going to have to do something. I don't expect the Colts O-Line to just roll over.

I agree with coverage on top of the man-2-man scheme, in the secondary. Most likely, DL will mix in man and zone. But wouldn't that also mean that Troy and Mitchel will have to stay in the secondary and the front 7 will have to do their job without help from the SS (Troy)?

Every defense tries to pressure Luck, but even when the pocket breaks down luck will find an open receiver or an escape lane, this guy is one of the hardest QBs in the league to completely shut down, the only way to hold him down is to get picks, even then he shakes those off and keeps on attacking you, and no lead is safe with this guy either, he will erase a lead as fast as you can build it.....

Yes unless you invert the Safeties and put them in the box ,they would then have the RB an d the TE in man which should allow them to be used more in run support..

The bad news is as of week 7 the Colts Offense is ranked number 1 in total yards, and their defense is ranked number 3 in yards allowed, their defense is pretty good, more attention should be paid to how to match their defense instead of their offense, their offense is going to score no matter what, so we need to score to stay up with them, we better be looking for plays this week that can stretch the field if we are going to have a chance in this game...

What would the answer be if the opposing offense runs PA when the safeties are inverted? Blitz the safeties and hope the CBs can hold? Or would some of the LBs assist in pass coverage?

We are 14-6 all time against the colts, and 9-2 at home in reg season... Some teams just have the other teams #.. and i believe we have the Colts..

I tried it out and its okay to drink the cool-aid.. anyone want some!!

I think that you leave those guys from Sunday play together again. The fact that they felt champions together (even if it was for a little bit) means they worked together. I don't see where separating them (when nothing worked well up to this point) would be worth while.
