I guess I don't see why you are mixing tight ends and fullbacks with receivers. They run different patterns than receivers. With your thinking why do we have any receivers in the red zone. Disagree with Will J being a better receiver.

You are jumping all over the place. Can we just disagree and leave it at that?

They had tall and more proven guys, Heath, Cotch and Will J. I know you guys are down on the coaches but come on man, do you really think if Moye was a better option that they wouldn't have used him?

I was just pointing out we have tall targets for the redzone but yes, agree to disagree :smiley1:

I don't think of Will Johnson as a RZ threat. Heath, yes. Cotch had a good season but I think Moye could have helped. Shoot, if nothing else try to get him isolated on a short guy and throw the jump ball. Why not? Nothing else seemed to work inside the 20.

Is Andre the giant still alive. You know , since you only have to be taller than short DB 's

Andre the Giant didn't make the 53 man roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers last year as determined by Mike Tomlin. Apparently the coaches saw something in Moye last year to give him a hat. Hey, let's keep the tallest wide receiver on our team and then NEVER use him in the red zone. Makes sense to me.

And to answer your question, Andre the Giant is dead.

that was a pretty catch in the ravens game last year, but maybe he hurt a little more than what was said'

Obviously it would be wise to have a big target for ben and wise to actually use them where needed

By your logic Landry Jones should be getting some snaps, he is on the 53 man roster right? If anything, Moyes height speaks more to the fact that he just wasn't good enough!
Height doesn't guarantee success. That's the point!

No, THE POINT is that our red zone efficiency sucked last year just like it does this year and it would have been nice to see the team employ some different strategies to try to increase their RZ efficiency. And if Moye wasn't good enough a secondary point would be that Tomlin and company need to do a better job of evaluating talent. If you're going to keep a 6'5" WR who can't play special teams, you'd better be able to employ his services somewhere else like, oh, I don't know, THE RED ZONE!!!

I'm done. Over 100 posts discussing Derek Moye is more than enough!

I saw there was 109 posts on this thing and I was like "WHAT??? All this for a guy that barely played???" LOL! I understand what people are saying though. There is a larger issue at hand here. Who KNOWS how big the thread will be when Michael Palmer is released!!!??? LOL!

Lol, I was actually thinking the same thing.

TTF said it best, that Moye was a likeable player. He was visibly hustling when others weren't. At a time when energy and appetite for wins seem lacking, you don't want to see that kind of guy go. Even if ability-wise, he was unlikely to actually make the team.

Anyways, against all sense of probably, I hope that he checks this board, and takes the 5-odd pages of debate as a compliment.

Like that poll means anything all it means is most fans are clueless, if you think this team isn't winning because of the HC you need to learn football. They aren't good enough period, the local media that covers the team always talk about the lack of talent on the team get a clue.

 I'm sorry oh great and powerful football authority. You're right, I know absolutely nothing about football and will spend the rest of my years aspiring to be half as knowledgable as one as omniscient as you are in football matters. I will strive hard to "get a clue" so that you will allow me, oh mighty one, to come back into your presence to discuss football matters once again. How could I EVER believe that the HC has anything to do with the poor play of this football team when one as mighty and powerful as yourself has told me repeatedly that it's not Tomlin's fault in any way, shape or form?! Never has been. Never will be. I recognize now, after being in the presence of your majestic greatness, that IT'S THE PLAYERS, STUPID! And guess who's stupid? :goofy: That's right. ME! But...I'll keep working. I'll keep studying. I'll keep watching. And most importantly, I'll keep reading your profoundly insightful posts and one day, I'll "get a clue" and I will at long last finally "learn football". Thanks for the inspiration, rule!!!!!

Well if the MEDIA says it then you KNOW it must be true. LOL. I actually voted for "lack of talent" on that poll but really wanted to vote for "all of the above" but my man Jack didn't put a choice for that and he then FORCED me to pick one. LOL. Actually, I think a more apt description, would be "lack of DEFENSIVE talent". It's hard to convince me that we don't have offensive talent when we have one of the best WRs in the game, a RB that's on pace for 2,000yds, another pretty good rb behind him, and a franchise qb. Now if you want to convince me that our DEFENSE is that stacked you are gonna have some work to do.

Well congratulations, BFT! Since you voted "lack of talent" YOU, my friend, are one of the chosen few that "have a clue" and have obviously "learned football" according to the rules of rule. Pray for the rest of us weak minded, clueless and unlearned (aka ignorant) reprobates who voted that the HC was the biggest problem. ;)

LOL! I will start right now! :praying: I must admit though, that if I had known media was saying that I would have been prone to NOT vote it. HA! All that lack of talent didn't put itself on the roster though. There is plenty of blame to go around and to say that Tomlin doesn't bare SOME of it is really not all that honest in my opinion. The same goes for Haley and DL as well. The same also goes for Colbert. Tomlin is not some golden boy in my eyes by any stretch of the imagination.

We have talent in some spots, lack it in others. A coaches job along with his confidants is to try and fit square pegs into round holes meaning you try to atleast put a hero or a cretin in the best spot to make a difference. I do not believe this staff does this. I don't believe this organization really holds their feet to the flames to do as such. Everyone gets a dunce's hat in my mind, and all have earned it... And that's about as EOE as it gets.

In all honesty, if we are fielding that bad of a team here lately, then I'd love to see at the very least some roster shake ups regardless of the outcome. Atleast try something. I'd rather have the inexperienced players and the bad players atleast show some guts in failure (plus it helps out before the final year of their contract) and give us something to examine or root for or be done with. Some weird knee jerk signings and other non signings over the years. A shakeup at O coordinator yielding (stat wise) similar results... I know you can't win em all, but if you ain't winning then throw it all in the mix.

    atleast try something.
