Tomlin just said in his press conference that with the struggles we've had in the red zone that Martavis Bryant may be an option this coming week.

Should of done this a few weeks ago. Everybody could see how we didn't have the type of receivers needed to make a impact in the red zone.

From what he showed in preseason, he wasn't ready, still might not be but should be better prepared by now.

You can't score in red zone. Why did they not do this two weeks ago. Why does it take getting our arses handed to us for a change. This is my issue with Tomlin.

Me too Glenn. We are running out of time and options. Something has to give in the red zone

I hope that is true, I heard the press conference and it didn't seem that definite, he just said he would "explore" the option.

Well he should've already been involved, but if he does get a hat...use him throughout the game get him comfortable running out there. Don't just throw him in in redzone scenarios and tip the old hat leaving him to bare the brunt of all things. Mix him in mix it up I know they refuse to do that sort of thing, but it's time. Missed the boat with Moye last year.

He will get a hat and probably never get in the game....We have had DHB active all year and I think he has caught almost every ball since joining the Steelers yet he gets like 3 Offensive snaps a week while Wheaton gets 98% and drops 75% of his passes..

If you want to play him then fine. But if we are expecting a rookie WR to turn things around for us we are in more trouble than we even know. I don't know if the rest of you feel this way but I would honestly describe my feeling about this team, season, and the foreseeable future as hopeless desperation. I honestly don't feel like we are even close to turning this around. Bryant might very well be good but I just don't see him as being the hero that saves our season. I know that no one is implying that he is but I'm just saying that I feel sad that we are even having to discuss a rookie WR getting a hat. Especially considering that we just drafted a number 2 pretty early last year. One of my main observations from yesterdays game was just the fact that Ben and Wheaton just do not seem to have chemistry. They just can not get on the same page. I hope him and Bryant can. It seems AB and Heath are the only guys that Ben can really "connect" with. Bryant sure did tick me off a lot in the preseason but maybe he has progressed more than we know. I hope so.

NBC Sports is crazy too, have him listed with 1 drop as well.

"Drops" as a stat are probably harder to track because some people blame the qb and not the wr.

Most of these sites count anything you get your hands on that you don't reel in as a drop. Pro Football Focus I think has most reliable data but I don't have a membership to check out what they have on Wheaton.

Did you notice yesterday in the game that Trent Green said Ben hit Wheaton "right between the numbers" and it clearly looked to me like it was behind him but did hit him in the hands. I guess since Green is a former qb he likes to always blame the wr. LOL.

I didn't get to watch the game until about 11 last night but it really felt like work in and of itself. LOL.

Maybe we can let him walk in free agency, and Denver can sign him so he can just magically become the second coming of Christ...smh

They have one for him. I thought there were two. Aside from that he had a mix of getting held, getting his route wrong, and an errant pass boost up his incompletions.

Which one are you calling errant? The one where Trent Green said it hit him in the numbers? That was the one I was talking about.

Yes, exactly. I don't think he's anywhere near prepared enough to be a red zone ringer. Throw him in for some gimmee reps to get his feet wet.
