Bell is having a great season. He's averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and 9.0 yards per reception. He is on pace to finish the season with > 2100 rush/rec yards, so performance is not an issue.

Still, he only has 1 TD, and that came on a 38 yard run in week #1. It makes no sense for a dual threat this talented to only have 1 TD 6 games into the season.

    Someone is doing something wrong.

We need to pound the ball into the endzone when we get inside the ten, instead we throw to Antonio every play. I think Antonio is on Ben's fantasy team because he seems to only want to get him the ball. Our two big backs should have multiple touchdowns each. I don't know if Hailey is calling the passes to Antonio or Ben but someone needs to change.

Tried that too, 3 runs plays from the 7 last sunday, never hit pay dirt.

Throwing it to Bell in the redzone should be an option. He's got good hands, and he's a mismatch vs most LBs.

Maybe use him and Blount together and then send one in motion.

Exactly what I was thinking. The O-Line does not get good push when they hit the red zone. The O-Line needs to understand they have to push the opposing D-Line out the back of the end zone to run in the red zone. The opposing front 7 are looking to stuff everything.

And in the event the O-Line is not stepping up, then Haley needs to dial up PA.

Sounds like a good idea. You should give Haley a call.

The lack of red zone production is a key point that's killing the team right now.

I wouldn't personally expect to have Bell there on 1st and goal, because that's Blount's territory. What I would expect to see is Will Johnson lining up in front of him.

I dunno... we either seem to be trying to be too clever or too dumb in the red zone this year. Wrong personnel being used, wrong plays being called.

See, I never like that idea, that Blount will be used in goal line. Bell is your feature back and is as every bit as capable as Blount at getting into the endzone. Bells yards after contact is very good, probably better then Blounts. Blount should strictly be used as a breather, keep Bells legs fresh.

I had no idea he only had one touchdown. That is just unbelievably bad.

I too do not know why Will J is not used. On the one play down there the Oline did a good job but the hole was filled by either a LB or Safety - Will J leading the way on that play would have meant a TD. Also where is Spaeth in the redzone - he is a big target?

I said this in another thread. The last 2 of those runs the O line opened up a hole for Bell BUT twice someone came up in the hole to stop Bell from getting in the endzone. If there was a fullback on either of those two plays, Bell scores in my opinion. Hey Haley if your reading this, go back to the old school I formation (see old Jerome Bettis videos for reference) when your 1st and goal on 7 and try pounding it in with Blount especially if at that point you've been running it pretty good. Maybe that will help increase our redzone TD scoring percentage form 31st in the league!

To some extent, I have to wonder if we've miffed the red zone production so consistently now that we've completely psyched ourselves out. It seems like not only do we not produce, we do really stupid things in that handful of yards.

what about Bell and Blount on the field together. That way the defense doesn't know which to anticipate to get the ball. Seems like when Blount or Archer come in, they get the ball. So the defenses can key in on that. As far all Bell finding the endzone, we never seem to bring in Adams, or use a lead blocker. Just doesn't make much sense to me.

First and goal on the one, uuh run the ball four times if we are not good enough then I accept that but a fade to AB is BS

I think Tomlin reported on Tuesday that Watt has 3 TDs. And he is going to pin his ears back against this O-Line.

While Blount is a battering ram who I would love to feed in GTG situations, I agree with you that you can't remove Bell from the field in those situations unless he too dogged to be effective. Not only for his rushing ability, but also his receiving.

Regardless, I think our RB's should get close to 40 touches/game for the three of them (Bell, Blount, Archer), and not all on the ground.

If Clowney plays, we'll probably give him the first sack of his career too. Maybe the first two.

Close to 40 touches just for Bell (22 to 24 touches) and Blount (12 to 15 touches).
