Whatever change is coming, it has to be real change. They win one game and they get all giddy and cheer, then they lose 3 of the easiest games of the season. Whatever their real problem is, they need to get back to the days when the Steelers could go 15-1.

I agree with Cower and Ward. Too bad that Ike (and probably others, including Tomlin based on some of his previous statements) are in denial and keep telling themselves that there really isn't that big of a problem.

Tomlin doesn't know how to pick "tough" football players. He's all smoke and mirrors.

You know another team that was soft? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in 2001. One of the softest one-hit wonders ever. Cowher went into their stadium and ran the ball down their f'ing throats.

They were built specifically to beat other soft teams like the Minnesota Vikings, the St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders. They did that with their smallest front-7 and some very skilled pass rushers.

Tomlin must think that defense worked because of Derrick Brooks running around and John Lynch being overrated.

You know who else had soft teams? Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith and Herm Edwards and Rob Marinelli.

The spirit of Cowher's Pittsburgh Steelers lasted a lot longer here (and took longer to destroy) than those other Dungy disciples were offered, but it's happening none the less.

They are right. Not sure when the people that are actually on the staff are going to realize this.

When they get inside the opponent 20 or red zone, the Steelers offense ranks next-to-last, having scored touchdowns on just 36.84 percent. Bruce Arians’ Arizona Cardinals rank last in the red zone even though they are 4-1.

:lolol: This just struck me as somewhat amusing.

In a morbidly sad kind of way.

Bottom of Points per Red Zone Appearance:

    25. ARZ
    26. JAX
    27. SF
    28. PIT
    29. BAL
    30. PHI
    31. BUF
    32. NYJ

This was not counting last week where SF, BAL and PHI all had pretty successful games at scoring.

I would suspect after this week, the Steelers are not in the bottom 3-4.

When I heard Cowher say that I totally agreed. When I heard that they failed to play Renegade at Heinz in week one this year I thought to myself that the reason for that was probably because this d doesn't hit people anymore and we just play soft. It's really lame to watch but it's just the truth.

You can't just ignore the comments of these two former Steelers. I'd imagine they have some pretty good insight.

Exactly. What they have to say should be listened to. Besides, Cowher and Hines aren't reading snide comments about ignoring them.

I kind of feel good about that. People were speculating that it wasn't play calling because we have a different OC now, I was afraid that maybe they were right and it is Ben. Now I'm feeling better about it still being the play calling. Primarily anyway, not saying Ben bears no responsibility for it, but you can fix play calling, harder to fix a QB.

I posted three weeks ago that in all the years I have watched the Steelers I have never seen a Steeler team this soft and that they needed to get back to Steeler football or put skirts on them and have them continue to play like little girls. Their play has gotten a little tougher since then but they are still a long way from being as tough as they need be. There are many other problems but one of the firsts things I think they need to fix is not being soft. That might not be so easy to fix because you are either tough or not, it's an attitude and state of mind. I don't think you can fix the other problems without fixing being soft. Just MHO. They seem to have gotten softer in the last couple of years. That includes both players and coaches.

when the team looks like it does then anything anyone says is most likely right. Still can't believe I drove 600 miles to watch them hand the game to Tampa Bay, and look like doo doo doing it all afternoon
