    How was that an insult?

If we had a guy like Hoyer instead of Ben, we would game plan around that fact (or at least we would if we had a good coach). We would run the ball much more and use playaction, just like the Browns did to us today. We wouldn't go into 5 wide situations at the goal line like we currently do. We would expect less from the QB situation and expect more from the rest of the team. That is how teams win without an elite QB. The Browns proved it today, teams can win in the NFL without a top 5 QB. Besides, it's not like the Saints are lighting it up with Drew Brees under center.

Besides, why does our future QB have to be in the NFL right now? Maybe we draft someone, in fact, that's the most likely way of finding the next franchise QB.

The reality is we are a garbage team with an aging QB that's on the verge of breaking down. What is the point of breaking the bank to resign him if we don't stand a chance in hell of winning with him? At least if we keep that money for other things, we can afford to bring in some free agents and resign some other guys which should help speed up the rebuild process

Agree fully. Those two things are completely different situations. 1 isn't planned or practiced for, the other is and the team is built around it.

Shaner....I'm not sure this team can game plan for any opposition. This team clearly lacks an identity.

Plus, I never said that our future QB has to be in the NFL right now, and I'm sure he probably isn't in the NFL right now.

I only stated that without Ben this team would be lucky to win four games. SteelerGlenn disagrees with this comment. So I merely asked that if Ben went down, how many games do you think they would win.

Glenn....I'm not trying to insult you. How many games do you think the Steelers would win with their current roster if Ben went down? Or...what QB would you sign to ensure that the Steelers would win more than four games if Ben wasn't the QB?

How many games would we win if Ben went down? Probably the same number we'll win with him, in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if we won more just because we would be forced to play differently. Ben isn't exactly doing much to help us win games these days.

I apologize if you didn't mean it as an insult. Your original post said we would be lucky to win 4 games without Ben. If he goes down with an injury, who knows? if we replace him in the near future, who knows, but no way we can say 4 games.

Shaner....this team will win more with Ben than without him, rest assured. If you think this team will win more games with Gradkowski at QB, you are sorely mistaken.

Glenn...if Ben doesn't start another game this year, in my opinion, they would be lucky to win two games. They will win more games with him than without him. If you don't believe that...well...I won't insult you. :)

Right? If only we could flashback to preseason and capture the majority of the feelings on Gradkowski...

I don't doubt at all that if Ben goes down with an injury we're in trouble. We most certainly will win more games with him than without him this season. And for the third time, in your original post you said nothing about this particular year or an injury, just said we would be lucky to win 4 games without Ben.

Need to see how they play in the playoffs before I say that. Disco had some pretty starless teams for stretches that really played hard hockey. Then they blow up the chemistry by signing free agents at the deadline....

Glenn....let me clarify for you ONE more time. If the current football year just started, 2014 football year, and if the Steelers started the year with Gradkowski or who ever you want to choose for a QB that would have been available at the beginning of the year, this team would be lucky to win four games, in my opinion. Now if you can tell me another QB that would lead this team to more than four wins, and would have been available at the beginning of the year, I would like to hear you would offer as a replacement to Ben.

Don't know who it would be, I don't make those decisions, but unless you have a crystal ball there's no way to know how many wins we would have.

Glenn....thanks. You just made my argument. There is no QB on the current roster, outside of Ben, and he stunk today and last week for that matter, or that is available currently in the NFL that would lead this current Steeler team to more than four wins in an entire NFL season. My point is, and I think you will agree, that this team is not very good. It appears that there is not quick fix to solve all the problems inherent with this team. Buckle up...it is going to be a rough ride I'm afraid to say.

Pens will have same result as last year flower is the problem. I am convinced they are satisfied with making playoffs every year not winning it all.

A bunch of repeat topics from losses from 3 years ago, same problems same inaction, same lack of correction, Tomlin saying the same old thing. Your either part of the problem or your part of the solution.

While I am certainly not advocating for a change to Grad, I have give him his due for doing something this preseason that very few Steelers did - he improved from week to week.

That said - I don't think we have a potential starting QB on our roster right now other than Ben.

I agree with that and the sad part is there are Teams that have better game managers at QB on the bench than we have starting....Ben thinks he can be elite ,,,he simply never has been and never will be ....For Ben to be the best Ben he can be he needs a coach to get that through his head.....
