Munchak's Johnson released

    He'll now have to clear waivers to get him back on the PS. They brought up Ventrone because of shark's injury. Crazy, didn't see that one coming

    Somewhat savvy on the Steelers part waiting until Saturday afternoon to waive him. I expect he'll be back, but we'll see. Ventrone is a solid special teamer, so bringing him up makes sense with Shark out.

    Don't we have 5 safeties already.i understand it's for special teams,but couldn't we have someone step up for a week,rather than risk losing W. Johnson

    Typically 24 hours, but because it's Saturday afternoon, teams have until 4:00 PM on Monday.

    Wasn't Belichick keenly interested in Johnson leading up to the draft? Their OL stinks so this may get his attention.

    So if they would of released him Friday they would only have to make it through the 24 hrs? So Saturday at the same time? Now if some team suffers a injury on the OL on Sunday it's more likely he may be picked up. Don't want to overreact ,chances are he won't get signed. Maybe it wasn't so savy to wait till Saturday ? Isn't it more than 24hrs now?

    No, Friday and Saturday waiver claims extend through Monday at 4 PM, so waiting until the last moment could be considered somewhat savvy. The waiver wire is typically more active on Tuesdays, as most teams are making their moves on Monday.

    Interesting that the guy getting promoted is Ross Ventrone who was signed, promoted, or relegated to the practice squad 29 times by the Patriots.

    Who would have ever thought Ross Ventrone would make it to active roster? He plays good special teams. Announcers will think it's Polamalu, with that long hair.

    we cut loose the one guy munchak hand picked in the draft. makes sense. cut an offensive guy for another safety. that's 6 safeties. hmmm. we picked up a D lineman/TE to play O-line as our only reserve on the PS, leaving munchaks Johnson blowing in the wind for a couple of days. really kevin? I'd like to put him on waivers. I'm still around, just not near as much, I went back into coaching this year and it's taking up time.:cool:
