Exactly!! The quick slant to AB is money every time and, instead, we do the horizontal throw that nets ZERO yards every time. By the time Ben gets the ball out of his hands, the defender is standing there waiting for our WR. I HATE that play!

In recent history, the Steelers have not been known for blowing teams out. My question is this: Why can't the $100+M franchise QB shred the 32nd ranked pass defense with all the weapons at his disposal?

If the Steelers overuse the slant, then wouldn't the opposing defense eventually pick up on that and create a turnover? I think you need to have a good mix of plays to your #1. We don't want him to become a "one trick pony".

Don't expect him to help this season though.

They were loading up against the pass, thats why. The bigger question then becomes, why didn't we run more.

Hopefully we won't be asking the same question next week. Cleveland is currently ranked 28th against the pass and Haden is iffy with a hip injury. I can easily see the stains loading up as well, especially if Haden doesn't play. They will give their CBs all the help they can get. Let's hope we have the wherewithal to attack them at their weakest and adjust to their counters. No square peg ,round hole this week. We don't have the luxury of playing the Jags.

Just read a article about Ben claiming to have called all those pass plays in the redzone. Also while claiming he wouldn't change a thing. Smh. Tomlin wishing we would of run more and his QB saying he wouldn't change a thing. Glad we're all on the same page . Ahhh what the hell scoring is overrated anyway. It's way more important to set individual records.

I read in one of the PG chats that it was Haley :hmmm:

Seems to make more sense it was Haley since Ben usually only calls the plays in no huddle. Were they in no huddle then? Dont recall.

Yes but they were loading up against the pass in the same way the Steelers do. They were conceding the short field and protecting the intermediate and deep routes. I have no problem with sticking with the pass if they exploit what the Jags were giving them. There should be and I hope there is, an audible or check when Ben sees the LB's drop back almost a full ten yards off the LOS that allows them to stay in the formation but sends the slot receivers on quick slants to the middle. That was open all day. Same thing with the bubble screen, if the defender is going to play press coverage at the line on the slot guy chances are the effectiveness of your bubble screen to the outside WR are going down. If Ben reads that he should check out of it. A lot of the bubble screens are too dependent on how quick the slot guy can get his hands on the defender in front of him which is not a good percentage for them.

Beyond AB, I don't know that were ready to call anyone else a weapon. Heath is solid, but not a weapon. The rest haven't shown that they are a weapon yet.

Yeah but you read it, we don't know what the truth is, I read Haley called it.

Misquoting someone isn't exactly shocking anymore in todays reporting. They weren't in no huddle so doesn't make sense Ben was calling all those plays unless he called 10 audibles.

One trip I know it was Ben because he was making the calls at the line another trip it was Haley because he sent in the spread package ,when you see Lance Moore enter the game it is almost certainly a pass...

So the correct answer is both Ben and Haley called those plays ...

I would still like to see a full fledge attack featuring running plays all over the field ,not just the same one and then work play action off of those running plays...

That wouldn't surprise me, I was just speaking to the unlikeliness that Ben called everyone of those pass plays.
