    Fair enuff...
    In order...

Why do we not get pressure on the qb, consistentley?

    Talent?

    Scheme?

When we do, it seems to work.

    I like Lebeau.

I don`t want to be seen as "bashing" him.

I don`t like our db`s playing so far off the recievers.

What can we do better, to get to the qb?

    Use Tuitt?

    Use McCullers?

Tell the D-line, to attack, instead of "eating up blockers/ playing the scheme"?

    Blitz more?

    GO STEELERS!

This is something brought up a lot. And it's true that when we played in Carolina, there weren't so many cushions being given to their receivers (or such that I noticed).

But I can't help but think we're talking about one of the most celebrated defensive coordinators in the history of the game, and one of the most obvious, basic points of play. In other words, it's not like Lebeau is sitting there not noticing the 10 yard cushion. They'll be using it for a reason. Perhaps part of it is because of how much we use the safety on the LoS, which takes out the deep coverage should a receiver beat the CB from the off.

My suspicion is more that the CBs doing it aren't reacting well enough, and so not utilising any advantage it brings. For example, if a CB is giving a 10 yard cushion, and a receiver catches the ball 8 yards deep, the CB should already be on him - not a further 5 yards away. The cushion gives them some read and react time (basically what McCain did in the Jags game with the pick 6), but it shouldn't take away their aggressiveness.

Another part of the reason the CB are off the LOS is because they are expected to support run defense. Some can do this while in press, but others need a bit more time to diagnose the play. I personnally do not have a problem with the guys playing a bit off. Nothing worse than seeing a CB get burned right off the line and score a long TD.

I think most here don't (Just my humble opinion). The problem is when they're too far off and backpedal past the first down markers while the receiver runs a quick route to pick up the yards. It's maddeningly frustrating to say the least.

The D-Line was good against the panthers because they have a "work in progress" o-line, not very good which made us look great but most teams have decent o-lines so without a good front three to collapse the pocket the secondary will struggle. I loved what LeBeau has done for the organization as well but when you run the same blitz packages and they get picked up over and over again you have to do something different. Did you notice how the jags got pressure with a 4 man rush? That is what a good D-Line looks like, they eat up blocks and collapse the pocket and when they can't get to the QB during pass plays, they get their hands up to block throwing lanes. Cam Heyward is good and then we have 36 year old Keisel, who plays hard every down but when he, who wasn't signed until the end of camp is your second best d-lineman, there is a problem which is why I would rather have Tuitt play and gain experience versus the garbage that is Cam Thomas.
