    overview:
a win is a win right???....... I'm not sure if I agree with that totally, but i'll take it. The defense stepped up big time.. granted, the jags starting qb, and wr's are all rookies, but they're also pretty decente and will be major in a yr. or 2.... believe it or not, this is a more satisfying win than it looks.... the jags defense came into this game 2nd in the league in sacks, and we blocked quite well against them... don't let the 4 sacks fool you.. 3 of those came as a result of ben holding the ball too long, when in fact he had plenty of time...... there is plenty here to build on.

    offense:
    1. once again, leveon bell produced when called on... just need to get the ball in his hands more often
    2. ben seemed a bit off tonight, but still got the job done
    3. the o-line was much better than the stats will show
    4. need to get the ball in heath's hands more often
    5. coaches please take note: the game plan is not working... we need to establish an identity!!!!!

    defense:
    1.
first and foremost... great job by cortez allen.. he got picked on a lot, but responded well
    2. mark my words....... stephon tuitt will be starting by the 2nd half of the season
    3. good job by all the corners
    4. good pressure by the d-line
    5. best game of the season so far for Lawrence Timmons

    special teams:
    1.
    good rebound from brad wing
    2. the penalties are really starting to bug me

I was glad TOMLIN LET ab CATCH THAT LAST PASS to continue the streak
I think things like that are cool and I respect coach for doing that

On a side note, our safety was again the worst player on the field for the 5th straight game.

Yes we won, yes we are 3-2 and still very much in the division race, especially if New England handles Cincy tonight. But there is still A LOT of work to do, and I am far from convinced. Today was far from impressive

Who? Mitchell? I have been working every game this year but the Panthers game.

Nice job by the Jags D! First game this year they held a team under thirty points! The offense only got ten today so kudos to them.

Sadly, Troy needs to retire. Coming over the top on a spike to stop the clock?

A shout out to Justin Brown too. He was Mr. dependable today and made some tough catches.

Ben said afterwards that he called the play specifically to get AB his 5th catch. What I would say is that for Tomlin to keep AB in line he should say "hey if you get more stupid penalties I will personally see to it that you don't get 5 catches". That might set things straight.

I'm glad somebody else picked up on that. I too thought it was pretty cool.

A mortal QB would have been sacked > a half dozen times.

I don't. I don't think a head coach should have any awareness of such things, and should chew out anyone who brings nonsense like that up.

that is my beef with Tomlin he only goes after role players. It would mean a lot more if he did that to Brown after one of his 10 dumb penaltys the last few years.

I agree he should dish it equally but I still am glad he let Moore have it as well.

Ben called the pass play. Tomlin didn't. Ben said so after the game.

I think there are several QB in the league who would have been sacked less in this game. One the one where the guy came off Pouncey to get the sack, it was totally Ben's fault - many other QBs would have moved out quicker and not have been camped right there. Pouncey never thought Ben would be there. If you watch some other game, you will see guys like Romo, Rogers, Kapernick, Wilson, etc. (even Flacco) evade rushers routinely.

Is it just me, but I remember Ben being better at this in the past. Yesterday, I at least twice was yelling at him not to just stand there waiting.

I am afraid, there have been just too many hits
over the years for #7. He has lost a lot
of mobility.Unless the Steelers come up
with several all pro's on the OL.LOL You will continue to see what made him good, the skill set of being able to get away has left him.

But he would have been the hero if he interrupted that play. There is No One that can replace his abilities right now.

When toe met ball on Sunday he was 2nd on the team in tackles. Only Timmons had more.

Hes not going to run for first downs anymore or even away from anyone for very long (see fumble Sunday) but he can still evade and shrug people off.

I was thinking that, but I think it was PWP who made a good defence of the decision in another thread. The problem was not that he went for it - that's what he's done since ever - but that he timed it wrong. I'm not sure that's a sign of him getting old. His closing speed is more of an issue, mind.
