Both have talked to him and are trying to get him to be a leader and knock that stuff off. Lets see if AB heeds their advice. Really shouldn't be that difficult, thats the kind of stuff that drives me nuts with players, stop being so selfish and do what's best for the team.

The article is about having refs at practice but in it, it speaks about Brown.

I like Brown a lot, and in interviews he seems like a genuinely nice guy and I never thought he came across as arrogant in those interviews.

However, with this stuff, he needs the old "Son, act like you've been there before" lecture, especially in light of the penalties.

He has always been like this, since his first preseason. Thankfully, he has improved. He used to be worse. He used to taunt opponents while still running the play. I remember him showboating and high stepping out of bounds on like a 40 yard kickoff return. Jeez, 40 yards isn't that great. Get over yourself.

Great player, and I'm happy to cut great players slack when it's part of their game. I'll cut DeCastro some slack for a personal foul when he was sticking up for his teammate (and also turning in Pro Bowl work). But a celebration penalty after a TD? Why? For what? What did that get anyone? When you sacrifice your team because you wanted to make Sportscenter, you should get no slack. I hope he listens. Being great doesn't buy you free reign to do whatever you want. You don't get to hurt the team because you've already helped. There's no ratio to maintain. Just don't hurt the team, ever.

"The bottom line is scoring has got to become routine for him," Tomlin said. "He's got to hand the ball over to the official and come over to the sideline and get ready to do it again."

"I'll tell him, 'Listen, you're one of the best wide receivers in the league. You're not a fifth- or sixth-rounder trying to prove yourself anymore,' " Roethlisberger said on KDKA-FM in Pittsburgh. "He's one of the best. He's going to have to start being one of our leaders, and not let those things happen."

I think both quotes are right on the money.

WOW the comment at the end of the article ("The mood doesn't seem too light in Pittsburgh right now. This can happen when you're coming off a grisly home loss to "one of the worst NFL teams." should fire up the team and Tomlin.

I hate to say it but losing to one of the worst NFL teams in a season usually comes back to haunt you.

At this point in time every player on the team needs to make like Heath Miller and play the game with humility and a workmanlike attitude that says I've been here before and I'll be here again!

Heath has always exemplified what i grew up believing... The Steelers are a blue collar working mans team. Heath certainly doesn't make a show about doing what he's paid to do.

I'm from Heath Miller country and I've followed his career since he was an all-state QB in high school. He is the real deal. Once, when he was in high school one of his receivers got up after making a catch and showed up the defender. Heath grabbed his teammate by the facemask and told him that if he EVER wanted a pass thrown in his direction again that he'd better NEVER show up the other team like that again! Love Heath! I'm sure all of this Bell and Brown showboating drives him absolutely bonkers!!

I imagine in a pro locker room there are fine lines, but I'd love to hear a tell of Heath crossing one and telling some of these kids to get their collective mess together! However, anymore it seems somebody being told to be a represent able person is somehow a slight. It only took 2 generations to lose morale... We're as screwed as is the rest of em in terms of professionalism.

Thats a great story. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Heath's parents instilled in him some respect and dignity, but to do that as a young man shows humbleness.

From a BFT post of the recent past "Rod Woodson said that when he scored a td once and sorta showboated about it that Joe Greene was a defensive coach at the time and REALLY let him have it and said "we don't do that here" and Rod said "yes sir!"

We need leaders on this team like Mr. Greene was back in his playing days and after as a coach . We need Ben or Heath or Troy or Lebeau or Porter or Lake or Olsavsky or someone anyone to teach these young punks what it meant and means to be a PITTSBURGH STEELER.

    PLEASE.....Someone step forward.

Yeah, I want to see players without any emotion at all. After Brown or anyone for that matter scores a TD they should just run off the field and sit down. Please, just catch run, score and nothing more!

I was. I understand the "act like you've been there, done that" mentality. But sometimes I think people get a little too carried away with it.

    I get that.

I like to see expressions of joy or emotion. They do have their place.

Yes, act like you've been there before. Don't make a spectacle of yourself. But I also do not expect our guys to be automatons.

Now they need to tell Lance Moore to do the same.

I dont think I have ever seen Tomlin jaw at a player like that.

Guarantee he does it like that behind closed doors though.

These guys are dumb though and no control of their emotions, even Bell went at it with an official again. I was like really Bell!

The way Moore turned around the second time, it looked like "what did you just say to me?!?"
But I think it was more likely Tomlin screaming at him to not walk away.

Incidentally, did Moore see the field again after that? I didn't notice him...

I was watching the game at BW3 and couldn't hear the audio. What happened on that play, was Lance flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct?
