Amen. Accountability starts from the top down. Our play is more erratic than the flight path of a bumblebee. I'm not sure what the numbers are, but we have to be one of the most penalized teams in the league. And I blame that on undisciplined coaching. I'd be making these boys run sprints, run suicides and do burpies until everyone puked at least once. Screw being a players coach. Give me someone who will twist off your testicles for stupidity.

And one other thing about Tomlin...he is the world's worst at half-time adjustments.

If we fail to make the playoffs for a third year in a row, then bring on the FMTI threads.

    Thanks Shaner.

I just feel that they are in transition and he's only 2 seasons into that. I stated after last weeks win, which was as impressive as a win that they have had in a long time, that we will see more duds this year before they completely turn things around. Granted, tonights dud was in spectacular fashion, but I knew more were coming. I think the talent is there, just that it is young and still learning. The most discouraging thing for me, is we appear to be a stupid football team, and I really don't know what can be done about that. Example, Brown falling down in the endzone, he should know better then that.

On a side note, the 49ers were in the exact position we were at the end of the game today. They were up on the Eagles by 5 points with 1:30ish left on the clock. THe Eagles had 1 time out. The 49ers were on 3rd down after running up the middle on 1 and 2 like we did on our last drive. They ran again on 3rd and 5 and got stuffed, forcing a punt. The Eagles got the ball on their own 40ish, went backwards due to pressure and penalties, and ended up not being able to score.

If we were able to put some pressure on Glennon, we would have won. It is the frontend of our defense guys.

You hit the jackpot with simplicity Zen Master. All it would have taken was one of any number of "minor" tweaks to pull out a W. But the question remains - is winning merely a sneaky way of concealing one's deficiencies? Truth be known - I'm afraid we would have just prolonged the agony and real truth about this team had AB complied today.

There was also a firebrucearians site as well. I was a member. LOL. I remember Cowher saying that in his last year he thought he was literally going to have a FIST FIGHT a guy that was so mad at him for the way we were playing! Yes Cowher did things sometimes that would drive me crazy but I still have a soft spot for him. I'm not saying that I think Tomlin should be fired. I just think, overall, Cowher was a better coach. I think Cowher had a better eye for defensive talent and a case can be made that Tomlin has a better eye for offensive talent. Bell is a home run. AB is a home run. Pouncey has been a big time pro bowler. I think Tomlin can evaluate skill players but I think we could use some MAJOR help at finding good o-linemen. As far as guys on D that Tomlin has drafted I would have to say only Timmons and Woodley have really been all that great. How many defensive stars has Tomlin drafted besides those guys? Maybe I'm forgetting some.

My take on this organizational failure is that Colbert is past his prime. He was a very successful personnel man for years, let's say from 2002-2008. I believe he is still looking for the types of players that were good picks back then. Unfortunately as we all know, the game has changed dramatically since that time. Add to that the fact that he has never been a very good evaluator of Oline talent and we end up here: losing at home to one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Sorry It's more than the frontend of our defense, it's the entire defense. If you think our secondary is anywhere near where an NFL secondary should be your wrong.

Yeah but against a bad team that played bad too,it shouldn't come down to one play. It should of never been in doubt.

Really? You dont think the blame should be on AB there? Or are you just determined to blame the rain on Tomlin?

Cant teach stupid, that was my point. Just how much do you think the coaches can do to get through to these guys? Can't run them ragged in practice anymore, CBA saw to that, what would you like him to do?

A secondary doesn't matter in the bigger picture. The Steelers used to be number 1 in passing years given up for many years, while not having "Stud" players outside of Polamalu.

Any secondary will get picked apart if the opposing QB has all the time to throw. This isn't Madden where a 95 rated CB can blanket a Calvin Johnson all game long and completely shut him down. I think that most fans think that secondary coverage works like Madden, and it doesn't. It is all about timing and how quickly your front-end can force a pass. The term "Coverage sacks" is used and is correct, but sacking the QB still takes place. With our pass rush, the QB could hold the ball forever and never take a sack, unless like a CB blitzed.

We do need new CBs, yes I agree, but they don't need to be "studs". We do however need "Stud" defensive linemen. Well, at least ones that can actually do their jobs. Anything really would be an improvement.

If an employee makes a mistake, it's on him. If he is allowed to continue to make the same mistake over and over, then it's on his boss. It's similar to that fool me once saying that George Bush so famously screwed up. Tomlin doesn't need to run him into the ground, although I really don't see anything in the CBA saying he can't do stuff like that. What he can do though is bench Brown and any other player that continues to play stupid. Bench him for a few plays or maybe even a series. If it continues to happen, bench him longer and longer until he gets it. It will hurt the term in the short term but we'll be better off in the long term.

It's on Brown to do his job but it's on Tomlin to make sure he does it right.

Side-note, I do hope that the "cockyness" of players like AB and Bell doesn't rub off on Wheaton. Wallace during his first year was a lot different, but became cocky somewhere along the line and ended up being a bad ego. Sanders, the same thing. I still like AB, but he should tone it down just a bit. Bell seems very cocky to me.

I do kinda wonder where the "cockyness" attitude comes from. It definitely was not handed down from Ward when the "young-money" guys were all here. I don't think its the WR coach either.

Come on BF, you really don't see the coaching deficiencies? You make it sound like our coaches are a bunch of beleaguered geniuses pulling all the right strings only to watch the stupid players screw it all up. Poor coaches. Tough to have to deal with untrainable, dumb players. I'm not going to absolve the players of blame, but when the same crap happens over and over, coaching is problem #1.

IF we are going to part ways with Colbert I wish we would get down on our knees and beg the Seahawks GM to come here. At LEAST if DL is leaving at the end of this year I would like to have Dan Quinn. I know I'm in a minority there but man those guys come to play and they are MUCH smarter than our players. The whole thing about us being in "transition" is only partly the problem. The reason I say that is because it's not so much our guys that are just learning that are costing us. Is AB a noob? Heyward? Allen? Gay? Worilds? Gilbert? Pouncey? Yet ALL of them had penalties today. COSTLY penalties. We have no leadership. Period. I will give Tomlin props because he did appear to clean AB's plow for his stupid celebration but what PLAYER went over to him and let him have it? There's no fire in their bellies. There's no guy that is a leader and says "you are costing US by YOUR stupidity". AB should know better and does. But there seems to be NO accountability. I would LOVE to see a player like Joey Porter that would let morons have it. If AB is a role model for the "transition" guys we are hurting because he plays so DUMB.

I say bench him and tell the whole team that he's benched because of his stupidity. Then when JB inevitably drops what Ben throws him say "AB WOULD be out there but he chose to put his self before the team". That's what I think he should do. If AB and Bell does that reject celebration over a first down, which Bell got flagged for today and then on the VERY NEXT PLAY did the EXACT SAME THING, I would tell them to go sit down. I'm over this "hey hey look at me" crap.

What would you like him to do? Shaners suggestion is a little drastic, maybe thats what it would take, I don't know. You guys dont want to absolve players of blame but thats what you're doing, AB absolutely can not do that there.

So what does Tomlin do then? If Brown keeps making the same mistake over and over and over, who's job is it to step in and correct it?

Put their a** on the bench for the next series and send a message...do it again and it's the entire quarter. Next time it's the whole damn game!

"Seriously," What exactly do you think Tomlin's job description was during his interview, to give these smooth press conferences after every game?!

It is the front seven that's the largest player problem on this team IMO. During commercials I would watch the ravens game and Suggs, Dumerville, and Ngata are just unstoppable as we've seen over the last few years. The ravens line constantly gets penetration and the edge rushers tee off. We haven't seen anything like that on defense since the 2010 regular season.
