After the results of yesterday's games, it seems no one is all that consistent, either week to week or half to half. Not that it solves any of our issues, but the issues seem rampant throughout the league. Parity in inconsistency!!!

The officiating on the Ds is making it's presence known especially this year. A team had it's bench get penalized yesterday and I was watching the Pack and Seattle deal w/ some tough calls.

They were saying this year it would impact many teams, like ours, and I think it is doing so. We had like what, nine calls playing Ratbirds?

The officiating is turning the NFL in college basketball where games are absolutely determined to some degree by the officiating crew. Right now there is zero consistency. What is PI, what is unnecessary roughness, what is hitting a defenseless receiver??? These are just a few of the calls that one play you can make an argument should be called and then the next when a flag is thrown you can make a case it shouldn't be called. Right now there is way too much gray area and there is no benefit of having defensive players since the offense has the advantage, see defenseless receiver calls and spot fouls for PI. Goodell has changed this league to be more in line with fantasy football than real football. Pretty soon they should just move it to 7 on 7 and put flags on them.

Sad but true. I've watched the first half of the GB/SEA game and the first three quarters of the PIT/BAL game. That's it. First time since basic training in 1998 that I missed NFL football games. You know what? I'm finding that I just don't really care.

If this is the NFL that Goodell and the owners want, then I may not be on board much longer. I know, I know, big loss, one fan. But the empty seats in Baltimore on Thursday evening tells me I may not be the only one willing/ready to let go.

I see inconsistency across the league early in the season due to the growing pains. New players, changes in coaching staff all trying to get on the same page
synchronized if you will..one of the biggest culprit i think would be trying to learn the teams system. Then you have teams who make minimal changes off season come in and don't miss a beat. It's just the nature of the beast.

Yeah, I remember back in the 2005 - 2006 timeframe being as much or more excited to watch the defense on the field as the offense. Anymore I'm just worried.

Some teams have consistency so far.

The Bills defense so far is consistent. Although, I expect them to start being more average.

The Patriots. Lets face it. Bill Bellichik never allows them to have back to back bad games. That is what I would call consistency in the coaching staff. He could also probably put our water boy on his team and somehow make him a pro bowler.

Watch the Bengals the past two weeks? Hate to say it but they're legit and if the Steelers don't turn it around they will be staring at their backsides for a long time.

On the other side of the spectrum, Oakland consistently sucks again. Unfortunately we don't look much better.

I couldn't agree more. I think we might actually have the worst pass rush in the league.

Yep we can't get there. We can't even get close to the QB . Cam stated he is glad he was playing the Steelers give his body another week to heal...

Me too. Goodell's attempts to gain a new demographic of fans has all but ruined the sport. It used to be that I'd watch the Steelers at 1:00 whatever game was on 4:15 then the night game. NFL all day long. Now I don't watch any games but ours. The product is diminished so much I no longer care to watch for entertainment's sake.

I haven't reached that point, my love of the game, not just the Steelers either, is too great. I do want Goodell out of office in the worst possible way, though.

FWIW, ProFootballFocus has us ranked 3rd to last in pass rush. Bengals being the worst. Steelers are ranked worst run defense, and worst defense overall, though.

UGH! And that's against the Browns and Ravens - not exactly perennial powerhouses on offense....

I have been preaching this for years Freak!
It is one of the single most important factor
in the NFL, even good QB's get happy feet.
