    My season prediction is 11-5.

But I want to make it clear I am not "optimistic" about our future. Despite my doubts about Tomlin, Haley, what Lebeau has left in the tank and Colbert's ability to put together this season's roster, I also realize this is the type of year we have typically over-achieved.

I really think a relatively weak schedule (and weak AFC) combined with little to no travel (farthest west we go is Nashville) along with the general lack of interest and discounting of the team by the national media will culminate in an overachieving season.

    Again, what is "overachieving"?

By my definition and forecast, the Steelers will be favored in 10 of 16 games this year. They should also never be "big" underdogs, with almost all the games as underdogs being in the 2-3 point range. This means a 9.5 win season is probably really "expected" based on Vegas. I just have a feeling we'll overachieve slightly and get to that 10 or 11 mark this year.

Without getting into specific games the goal should be 4-2 inside the division, 3-1 vs. the AFC South and 2-2 vs. the NFC South. That leaves going 2-0 vs. the "outside the norm" games against the Jets and the Chiefs. We could lose at the Jets, but that's a real iffy game to me right now and good be a totally different look come Nov. 9th.

I think some kind of combination like this is possible even if I think the team really isn't that good.

In fact, I'd love to tag-team to this my prediction for 2015 that the team over-values their success this season and when confronted with next season's first place schedule falls hard back to mediocrity (something like 9-7).

I wish this weren't the case, but that is how I view the leadership and GM work surrounding this team. Not quite striving to really be great, but accepting good and hoping for a run.

We will see how it turns out.

I'm going with 12-4, for every reason you said, except one more win

I think I am going to be a lil less optimistic and go 9-7.

That's what Edmund Nelson said but he also said he thinks it will be enough to win the division as well.

I expect no less than 10-6 and a playoff berth. No. Less.

I believe they can achieve more than that. But anything above my expectations, I'll be happy.

Disclaimer: I say I'll be happy, but we all know I'll whine and moan if they stink up the joint in January.

My prediction for the boys is 9-7....at best we can obtain a record of 9-6-1. Our offense is hit and miss (sometimes I think I get overly excited just for the team making 1st downs because we don't get those often) and our defense is slow.

I'm thinking 10-6. This year that should be good enough to win the AFC North.

I am thinking 9-7. Some good young players but it takes a while for that to come together.

I am an optimistic person so I am going to go with 12-4. I believe we fly under the radar the entire season and make noise in the playoffs. Something tells me our offense is going to click like a well oiled machine and the defense will be good enough to keep a lead.

I believe this is the year we get #7... Here we go!!!

If preseason is any indication then I don't see anything more than another lackluster 8-8 record.

I hope yinz are right and I'm wrong though.

The defence is garbage Ike will get flagged 6 times per game, the only chance this team has at winning is by keeping the other teams offence on the bench. To do that you need a running game, ours suck so only the short passing game will be our best and only weapon. 7-9

I'm going out on a limb here. I say we'll win more than we'll lose and if not we'll lose more than we'll win. BET ON IT!

I see nothing but optimism here, IMO i see nothing close to the choices made based on what i have observed to date. I will not make any predictions.. though during the conclusion of the draft i did predict we would finish the season better than 8-8. This i still embrace, wins beyond is yet to be seen! After watching lastnights season opener i just sunk to the bottom of my recliner.

I will be honest and say I care less about this season than I have in a long, long time.

Even if we go 11-5, even if Tomlin wins a playoff game, I'm not sure they will have regained my faith things are being coached and managed correctly around here.

If we go 7-9 or worse, I would hope change might coming from the owner in the form of Colbert and/or Tomlin being let go.

I think my worst nightmare would be a muddling 9-7 season, a wildcard birth, an ugly playoff loss with plenty of excuses and everything remains status quo going into 2015. That would be about as boring as can be.

    I either want over-achieving or under-achieving. I don't want middle.
