I'll be happy to say I'm wrong with this. I want Wheaton to do well. To the casual observer (me), I haven't seen what the coached have seen. Here's hoping he proves me and all the naysayers wrong.

That being said isn't it possible that maybe the team might have become comfortable with how well they've drafted WR's (AB, Sanders, Wallace) in the last couple of years they just assume every pick will be a home run? We've seen how well they are at judging CB talent.

teams weren't playing 6 DB's either. if they want to play that we can run the ball. I don't even count when bell had carries with the second unit line in there. with the starters he had a good preseason with limited carries. take away LB'ers and he should do fine.

The current groupe has yet to get a full grinding game together. The run wears a defense down. We could grind them down and our Defense may force some turnovers to boost the offense. I refuse to fathom the thought of coming out to Browns on our home opener and losing.
Just don't think those thoughts, Glenn doesn't need that kind of negativity.

The browns suck, that's why they are the browns. Can I get a "They suck, we'll crush 'em"?

Ah. he didn't ball out in the pre season, therefore he is unable? He had a nice camp, and also had a good over the shoulder grab in the first pre season game that I remember and a very nice TD snag against Buffalo. He and Ben were a little out of sync against Philly, and he had a bad drop, but it don't remember anyone that was in sync offensively that game (outside of DHB). The coaches feel like he is capable and ready for the number two, and I tend to agree.

Hes young, but should be (if things go as planned lol) a much better receiver at the end of the year than at the beginning. That's why we went out and snagged some solid vets in the offseason. Moore and DHB should take some of the pressure off of Wheaton. Both of these guys are pretty good players. Wheaton will figure it out this season. Have a little faith :)

We can run the ball. Question is, will we?

DHB wasn't even good enough to make the Raiders and wasn't good enough to even play with the Colts when Wayne went down. Justin Brown has done literally nothing in games, and Bryant is hurt and apparently in the coaches doghouse. Moore can't play outside. Moye was cut. Sometimes you don;t have to look like an all-pro hall of famer to win a job when everyone else sucks.

With your train of logic, what has Shazier shown outside of a few good quarters of preseason football? Surely Vince Williams had more starts last year and had more tackles, so he should start over Shaz. Tuitt? Nothing at all. To the bench! Blount? He has done nothing so why even have him on the roster, let alone the number 2 back. Jarvis Jones? Nothing, bench him. Cam Thomas? Who is that? Bench him no! Mike Mitchell? He has done nothing either, so show him to the bench! Shamarko Thomas trained with Troy all off-season so surely he is better.

The stains want to load up against the pass against a team with Bell, Blount, and Archer in their lineup?

    I think that's terrific news!

I find it interesting that Bell and the yards he picked up last season had everyone excited, and I do mean everyone! Now we aren't even sure if we can run the ball... against the Browns, no less. I think I've now heard it all (at least until next game). I'm going to go stick my head in the sand, cry, and not come out again until Feb...after we have won the Super Bowl!

Heyward-Bey can be good at the #3 or #4 for fly patterns and special teams. That is what he should have been drafted to do. Al Davis way over-drafted the guy and no way was he going to live up to the #1 selection.

Well can he run it well enough to take over the game ? I still wonder if we didn't waste to much time with the No Huddle in the pre season to turn the running game up this week.

I think with only 3 RB's we took a more conservative approach in preseason to guard against injury. they haven't forgot how to run the ball, even after a couple of big fatties altering their short term memories.:smiley1::cool:

I agree, I would have focused more on the run game in preseason. Ben has already proven he can run no huddle in previous seasons. I would have been great to try to re-establish something they have been struggling with.

Steelers will run the ball well in this game. Cleveland's O is a mess. There will be a lot of 3 and outs and their D will be tired in the second half. Steelers will be comfortably ahead and will run it down their throats as the game goes on.

Just a couple of Bell rings will cause the stains to re-think their D.

Wheaton will do just fine as the #2 WR, yeah his blocking needs some work.
