Didnt say he'd get there soon or before anyone else. We still have the legends to get in. I'm just saying I believe he may get in one day.

Harrison is not a Hall Of Famer he had a good five year run.

We all witnessed the greatest defensive (if not all around) play in Super Bowl history thanks to Silverback and his super human hustle. In our lifetimes, we'll never see a better play. He may not be a HOFer, but THAT play was a Hall of Fame play and will be enshrined in our collective memories forever.

Well said! There may have been crazier plays like the Immaculate Reception, and more 4th quarter game winners (although the fact that this was a 2nd quarter game winner makes it even more unusual and special, in my opinion), but when you factor in the sheer awe of the play with the effect it had (winning a Super Bowl!), I think it makes a very, very strong case for the greatest play in NFL history. I can't off the top of my head think of one to put ahead of it. In fact, I think I'll start a new thread about it.

As for Harrison in the HOF, the caliber of his play is well above the line for the HOF. I said he was the best I've ever seen and I stand by it. The list of 3-4 OLBs isn't as long as the list of 4-3 DEs, and I've only been watching since the 90s, but DAMN he was underrated. Stuffing the run with complete dominance and racking up the sacks, all against top competition, and all while spending 40% of passing downs in coverage - and doing a damn fine job of that, too.

Of course, the issue is that he didn't do it for very long. Maybe 4 amazing years, maybe 2 more great years, and a few more of good, solid play. Gayle Sayers. But then, Sayers lost his time due to injury. Harrison spent that time not being good enough to get onto the field in a game. Neither put enough HOF years into their career, but with Sayers you could assume he would have. You could project. With James, we already saw it. He was getting cut every year from '02-'06.

Weird situation. I'd vote for him, but I understand that he'll never make it.

HOF I'm not so sure but I hope so. Steelers all time greats; well yes (See the immaculate interception). James was amazing for a decent period of time but I don't' know if he had the stats and number of years to qualify. Thank you James for everything you are what the Steel Nation embodies and I'm glad you retired a Steeler!

I agree. Still gives me chills watching it and then brings a smile to my face. I think I watched 3 or 4 times when I posted it above.

For those of us who follow him on FB, you really get to see a different side to him than what was often portrayed. I know a lot of entertainers have a social media person who actually runs their site, but JH doesn't. He's the one posting and he comes across as a very genuine good guy and seems really happy now. Good for him in current his position in life. Hopefully he can successfully transition into the next stage and be happy and successful. Im rooting for him.

Different criteria though, Gale Sayers also. I still don't see him getting in. I think for OLBs you need to be in the range of 100 career sacks.

I used to follow Harrison on FB and Twitter until he became a traitor and went to the Bengals.

Thanks James for the SB ring. Without that incredible play, I am 99.999% certain that the Seahawks win that game. Thanks for all the other plays as well. If only the refs called holding against you then your career would be just a bit more complete.
