With the season kickoff less than a week away, I have to step away from the message board for awhile. While I will still be passionate about watching the games I can't be online discussing and enjoying the friendships and support of fellow Steeler fans in Steeler Nation. My wife is battling her own bouts of depression and has expressed that she should just get used to being ignored every fall. While this is an exaggeration and symptomatic of her depression cycles I have to do what is best for my family. So if that means less time spent on the computer then that is what I will do. She is usually very supportive of my one and only vice (love of Pittsburgh Sports) but with family health concerns, our children, and job stress things can get to a person. I hope to still get a free moment to check in and read but I can't be as active as I would like. Hope to see all of you again sometime in Feb where I hold out hope for some Super fun at the end of the season. Thanks TTF for building a place that allows use to come together and talk football and Steelers and I will see you guys and gals soon.

I am so sorry to hear that about your wife. That is an awful, awful, disease and she has NOTHING to be ashamed of for suffering from it. Just try and be as understanding as you can with her and know that it's never anything "personal" when she withdraws in such a way. I can sincerely say that I hope all the best for you guys. Also major props on putting your priorities where they belong. We all love the Steelers but there are certainly things that are vastly more important. Hang in there my friend and I hope things go well.

Do what you Gotta do, man. As BFT says, there's no shame here. Take good care of her as I'm sure you already do. We'll still be here when you stop by to say hello.

Sorry to hear that, Thorn. My wife calls herself a "Steelers widow". Hopefully you can pop in whenever life allows. We'll keep your seat warm.

I think all of our wives feel that way. My wife always says "I'll see you in 6 months." She says to get my attention between September and February you "need to be wearing a helmet".

Sorry to hear all of that, but family definitely comes first.

My wife used to get bothered with having the TV on with footbally playing so much during the season, but after a few years she finally realized that's just how it is this time of year. She's always watched Steelers games with me and she is part of Steeler Nation, but she's not as fond of having any football game on whenver there's one being broadcast like I am.

Very sorry to hear about your wife.
Best wishes to both of you.
We`ll miss your input here, but you obviously have more important things to deal with!
Best of luck to you helping her deal with that. I`m sure with your support, she will be able to work her way thru it.
And yeah, I think MOST of our members` signifigant others have to deal with being "football widows" to more or lesser degrees...
My entire family knows not to have family get togethers, during a game, if they expect me there, unless it can be watched at the event!:yeehaw:
    GO STEELERS!
