If Ben goes down, the season is over. Let's just live with that. Besides, how much $$$ would we pay for a 3rd string QB that we trade for, and at this point won't even get a hat on game day.

What's crazy to think is that if Gradkowski gets hurt in the 3rd or 4th preseason game, Landry Jones is one Ben injury from playing. Don't think it can't happen look back to Leftwhich and Batch getting hurt years ago, possible for sure.

I would take Dixon over Landry Jones anyday, at least he has some running ability. I thought the Steelers should've gave him more of a opportunity as a backup.

It's not crazy that if the 1st and 2nd string QB goes down the 3rd one takes over. And with the possible exception of Seattle, most teams would be in trouble here. How do fans in Baltimore feel about Keith Wenning starting, for example?

They tried to. He wanted to stay with the Ravens.

You're not winning football games with Dixon either. And Bruce Arians never spoke truer words when he said "we don't run him because he'll get broken in half". Sure enough, soon after that, he got hurt trying to run.

Going from one back up that cant win to another that can't win is kind of pointless.

Bring in Hines Ward for a #3 QB over LJ.

how about we only carry 2 QBs....if we get down to the third stringer and its LJ we have no shot anyway,,,,so use that spot on another spot?

If the Steelers have to rely on a 3rd string QB the season is over anyway. In the future they need to draft a QB who played in a pro style offense in college. Stay away from those spread/shotgun QBs.

I'm all for Marriotta... Think he's the goods however we'd have be the raiders or Cleveland to get him, and I'm eyeing a S.B. Run this year. That is if we don't get hurt and dumb asses would put the bag down until their off time!

Probably need a 3rd running back option now.

My thought was looking for a young kid more than finding a vet to come in. Bray I think they liked out of college (isn't he the one we said we would draft) but they may have their 3 spots filled in KC already. I would like to see a younger guy for the 3rd role/PS role whereas if we need someone to be a backup instantly who doesn't know the system, you can get a vet like Orton who can "manage" a game, but not win any for you.

Orton has some skill, he is no worse than Leftwich.

Last time Orton was on a good team was Chicago too, so it has been awhile. Orton on the Steelers would be a different result IMO.

I'd rather take a vet back up who has been there and done it. Why waist your time and draft picks developing a back up QB. Just sign a Vet.

I would love this guy as our back up. I think the reason Cousins hasn't been traded yet is the Redskins want a second round draft pick for him.

Landry is not an option at this point and after seeing Grad against Philly I am going to say we need to find a 3rd string
