DHB

  1. Sincerely,

    Al Davis

DHB is the same guy he was in college and nothing has changed since he has been in the league.

AB was good in college, just from the MAC, which most times isn't thought of as a major NFL producing division of college football. of course we know better. I know I talked him up big when we got him, but he's far and away exceeded most expectations.

I don't see JB in that same league coming out of college. without the speed, JB may be just another tall guy. he's just more of a possession receiver. not that that's a bad thing but against NFL competition he will be hard pressed to overachieve. I don't expect he will end up more than a #4-5 wr.

he could find a place for us in the red zone and a chain mover though, but we have a couple of those guys. in multi sets he could possibly have a role as a mismatch. I'm surprised he's not been used in punt return duties but again, we have a couple of good ones.

I still don't think too many people have very much faith in 6th rounders in general and doubt many thought AB would be a # 1 receiver. I didn't think much of the pick at all and don't remember him being talked up all that much.

JB's progress has slowed down in real games, I'd like to see some more production in the next 2 games but I think overall, he has separated himself from the pack.

Lock? I haven't seen enough one way or the other yet.

I've seen what AB can do no need to play him until they count. IMO
Would like to see more of DHB and JB in the next games. Let's see.

I agree still super fast and strong with iffy hands who gives maximum effort. Also If I remember correctly he only played 2 years of football before going to college. Plus how much training or Coaching did he get with the Raiders ?Lord knows they bring out the best in there players.

Now on to the Colts a young cocky QB who didn't see eye to eye with DHB ,who also has no touch like our QB does IMO that really gave him a chance to succeed. Did DHB go to the media and cry like a baby ? Did he set on the sideline and pout ? Nope they asked him to play ST'S and he did so in a above the line manner

I have no doubt coach T is taking all this in and is the type of Coach to realize that DHB could bring a lot to this Team if nothing more than on ST'S . And if he can Catch the ball better from Ben than he did in other places that would be huge as a 4th. or 5th. WR .

IMO no way does he not make this Team ,but we will see..

Not that I don't agree with some of what you say but the fact is, no matter if it was the junky Raiders or some cocky QB in Indy, DHB has issues with his hands. Always has and my guess is he always will. He's a heck of a ST guy but I don't see him beating out the likes of Bryant or J Brown for a WR spot. He may make the team on ST's play though.

they didn't even ask him he volunteerEd. He just wanted to play and help the team anyway he could. I like everything about except for his hands

Is that speculation or did you read that? seems unlikely, both team guys. I think DHB will likely make it if they carry 6 but not 5.

I read it somewhere that DHB and Luck had some Beef early in the season. I will see if I can locate it.

Could not find anything solid , just a article him calling Luck goofey and trust issues. It seems the 2 worked well off the field ,but never clicked on the field.

DHB went from a team that forced the ball to him to one where he was just another WR and expected to produce within the system. That's why he was unproductive and got frustrated.

Had a nice catch tonight.. DHB does have it but can he be consistent. That is the underlying question

Well from what I seen from Wheaton and Brown #2 and Moore I think DHB should be the #2 or #3 WR on the depth chart. None of those 3 had a good night, all blocked poorly caught the ball poorly or in Brown's case could not get any separation.

No way do you keep Brown over DHB ,and IMO DHB makes us a better Team when he is on the field. The main reason is he can actually block which we will need if we intend to run the Football.

I agree with you PWP. I'm trying to figure out what it is they see in Wheaton, because I really don't at this point. At least in the case of Sanders, he proved himself before they let Wallace get overpaid by the Dolphins. I'm not saying they should have kept Sanders. But, I do think that they also shouldn't just hand the job to Wheaton. He has looked average at best, and I don't think he could block any worse if he didn't have arms.
If I'm doing the depth chart based on my own opinions, right now its
    1. AB
    2. DHB
    3 way tie Moore/Wheaton/Bryant

I'd actually be more comfortable in a 3 wide set with AB, DHB, and Archer

I believe the answer to that is ... no other good option at this point. Wheaton is our #2 by default. Our WR corps consist of AB and a bunch of #3 & #4 types.

He can't. The dude runs a 4.3 forty. If he could be consistent he'd be starting somewhere and earning a mint. But he's plenty good enough to make this squad because he's a deep threat, he's dangerous on WR screens ... and he blocks and plays special teams.

Actually, as long as Miller is healthy and Bell & Archer are around to catch passes ... we may be able to start DHB. You just don't want to put yourself in a situation where he's a primary target in your passing game, because he will drop some.

So DHB makes a couple plays on back ups and he's the #2 receiver? Lol come on. I'm cheering for the guy, but really the only shot he has is to beat out J. Brown or hope the steelers carry 6 WR's. With Bryant likely to be a game day inactive to start the season, the #4 WR will more than likely see time on the field this season. AB, Wheaton, Moore, DHB/J. Brown, Bryant is what we are looking at. Archer will line up as a WR some, so the only way I see us keeping 6 is if we are not expecting Bryant to see the field at all this year (which of course is possible).

DHB didn't start playing ball yesterday. He has a resume.

Wheaton has not earned that #2 job. It was given to him.

I agree with this, especially after watching just how badly Wheaton and Moore struggled when asked to block out in front of the WR screen. It's sad to go into a season with an inconsistent pass catcher like DHB as the #2, but based on what I've seen thus far in the preseason he looks like the best option.

DHB won't be the #2 WR, he hasn't even made the team yet. I think he will be the #4, I don't think you can trust Bryant in games just yet.

I think Bryant will be active and in goal line situations. Red Zone
