There has been over a dozen businesses looted, some of them burnt to the ground. The police have been fighting back crowds of protesters with tear gas, pretty volatile situation.
Pretty close to home for me. The company I work for we're building an addition on the Ferguson Police Department and there has been protests daily there ,some violent. We haven't been able to access the job the last couple days, but we are returning this morning. Not looking forward to it!

I understand the anger and frustration over the young man's death; however, the riots and looting is a disgrace.

Sucks for sure. All I will say is that it seems we have stricter ROE for the military than for police officers.

It's being reported that a Ferguson police officer shot another suspect overnight, at least it seems this guy had pulled a gun on the officer.

The case is on going with conflicting account of what happen. The officer is innocent till proven quilty. I'm not sure which is worse the looting or the presents of Al sharpton.

Yes, you are correct. However, his decision making is suspect as he even stated the individuals were running away after the initial confrontation (initiated by him). I don't believe fully any of the accounts, but the way the officers account came out sounded like a carefully structured after the "Oh ****!" moment.

The looting is BS! There are however more peaceful demonstrations that are not "News Highlights" not being shown.

It's a volatile situation for sure, and one that's not likely going to get any less so while Al Sharpton is there.

Actually most of the stuff occurred before I'll Sharpton arrive. He did ask for them to stop with the violence including demonstrate peacefully.
Once they're through with the investigation it's going to be interesting to find out exactly what happened in this case.

Our company decided that until things cool down a bit we're not going to send any of our employees back to that job site.

I think the people posting in this thread are old enough to remember LA and the Rodney King riots, that was insane, I had a good friend who lived there at the time, said she barred herself in her home, very scary. I still remember news footage of the truck driver being pulled from his cab and beaten, can't recall if he died or suffered severe injuries but it was crazy. He was in a rig if I recall, I would have run those suckers over.

I remember that very clearly. I believe the truck driver lived? I believe his name is Reginald Denny.
That was some scary stuff for sure!

To my dying day I will never understand what smashing someone's business, looting their store, then setting it ablaze could ever accomplish. I'm surprised that the owners of those businesses are not present and armed to protect their interests.
Even though what ever occurred I was of no part of, at that point I definitely would be.

Yep, that was it, good memory. I googled his name after you said it to see what happened to him. He lived but his speech and and ability to walk were permanently damaged. I forgot just how savage that beating was:

Denny stopped in the middle of the street. Antoine Miller opened the truck door, giving others the chance to pull Denny out. Another man, Henry Keith Watson, then held Denny's head down with his foot. Denny was kicked in the abdomen by an unidentified man. Two other unidentified men, who had led a liquor store break-in earlier that day, hurled a five-pound piece of medical equipment at Denny's head and hit him three times with a claw hammer. Damian Williams then threw a slab of concrete at Denny's head and knocked him unconscious.
Williams then did a victory dance over Denny and flashed gang signs at news helicopters, which were televising the events live; he also pointed and laughed at Denny. Anthony Brown then spat on Denny and left with Williams. Several bystanders took pictures of Denny but did not attempt to help him. LAPD officers in the vicinity did not assist Denny, either.

It's just an excuse to act like animals, whatever the reason behind the riot, it's just an excuse, most of them could careless about the "reason".

That's really all it is, nothing more than an excuse to act like a piece of @#$%. It seems like we've got a generation of black males that have no problems with gunning one another down in the street for respect, but go postal when someone else shoots back. I'm not saying this shooting was justified because I simply don't know. However, there's absolutely no justification for destroying public and private property.

While I think this discussion could have gone alright, it seems to have strayed in a bad direction. Sorry to punish everyone, but it's probably best to close it.
