Wonder if it has anything to do with Adams poor camp showing? Not to long ago I thought they were pretty content to let Gilbert play out this season without a new contract.

My gut says it's more likely just part of the financial to do list, than it is with any other guy's camp performance. Gilbert's own performance in camp may play a part in it, though. Like I said a couple months ago, extend him if you can do so in a cap friendly manner. Please don't make it rain over Gilbert.

since munchaks coaching seems to be working for gilbert, I'd think that's part of the reason. Wesley Johnson is also doing very well according to everything I've read. adams and whimper may be fighting it out for the last tackle spot, but adams can't jump in at guard like whimper. I don't know but this tells me adams isn't going to take the right tackle spot from gilbert this year. barring injury. it's for a backup spot.

I read where some in the media have said Gilbert looks the best so far of the O-lineman. Now he shows up to camp in great shape because it's his contract year, I would be okay re-signing him if they don't overpay him.

A fast DE/LB with good technique will beat him
every day of the week, Jabaal Sheard owned this man, beat him like a rented mule. And that was Jabaal's rookie year. Flat out embarrased the man. Like men playing with BOYS. Mike Munchak has his has his hands full,he will earn everything the Steelers are paying him.

And Gilbert was a savvy vet at that point? No, he was another rookie. One drafted after Sheard.

That was 2011. If you want to pick on Gilbert, there are plenty of more recent games where he stunk it up. Why are you clinging to 2 allowed sacks from 3 years ago? I hope Munchak and the rest of the Steelers coaches and FO look at more than one game when deciding his worth.

:this!: I hope they don't overpay for him but Munchak isn't going to have to work very hard to straighten out Gilbert, consistency has always been his biggest problem, apparently he is responding well to MK's coaching. I'm sure I can find bad film on every player in the NFL, doesn't necessarily define who they are. Steelers understand this.

I heard he and adams are still getting beat on those double moves. I'm sure munch still has a ways to go with them all still.

I heard he is one of their best lineman in camp so far

But yes, Im sure Munch has some rough edges to iron out still. His progress in such a short time is still encouraging though.

Well at this point, Gilbert has beat Adams on tape and on appraisal. I know it's a contract year for him so hopefully he don't get overpaid to go back to being a slob after the ink has dried... But hell, season ain't even started... Who knows what who brings? It's all speculation now, and every team (even our steelers) has some hyped up verbiage to get us salivating year in and out... We know how it goes. I hope he does grand and I hope Adams gets his head out of his ass, but time will tell.

It is in the feet. Some players just do not have the necessary footwork to be NFL lineman.Which side are we going to put Heath on for help?Which rb will have to stay in to chip block for help? And people ***** because they say Heath is not like Gronk, He is too busy helping out blocking is why.So our franchise QB does not get killed.
