Just looking at the Mini-camp and what they had him doing with the LB's, you can see they are getting him in there to work with the outside guys and technique. That's what he's doing. If you think the position coaches are the only ones who work with the players and the assistants just run to set up the next drill, you're sadly mistaken.

From his own mouth and from the mouths of the players, he's working on their skillsets.

Porter is here to inject back the emotion of the game into the players that has lacked ever since Cowher left and the emotionless Tomlin took over.

Isn't part of coaching developing players if it isn't then I have been doing it all wrong.

    Great link, Blast!:applaud:
That was a very good read, and you can count me amongst those who think his return to "Da Burgh" is a blessing!
Along with Lake, and Munchack(even tho not OUR ex-player)...
I think these coaches will bring a level of accountability, for the player`s actions, that has been missing for a while.
We really haven`t had vocal leaders on the field, like Porter, in a long time.
Troy plays great, gives his heart on the field all the time, but, isn`t vocal about calling out others, to step it up,
By all accounts, anyhow, more a leader by example, than, getting in his teammates` ears, on gameday.
Keisel, played with a lot of passion, and seemed to fire up the guys on the field, with his intensity, but, I never really heard of him, going to his brothers in arms, on the sideline, and sayin " C~MON!!! MAN UP AND GET THIS DONE!!!"...
Taylor, and Clark, were candid in interviews, but I never really saw them get their teammates fired up.
I have a feeling Porter, Lake, and Munchack, can call out the players during gameday, and say...
"This sh*t just ain`t cutting it!!!", when the effort is "below the line"...
And the players probably respect all of them enough for it to matter.
I have a feeling, and maybe, it`s just wishful thinking, but I think our ex-players, and Munchack, can bring back a sense of pride, and willingness to give absolutely everything they have, to our players.
    Steeler Football...
I just haven`t seen the effort, and "want to", out of our players, that I have in the past.
Yes, there are exceptions, like Ben, Troy, Antonio, etc...
But in general, it seems like a lot of these kids are happy to take their paycheck, do what they think is their best, to get a new contract when it comes time, etc...
Not go "all in" for the "team"...
I think our newest coaches, may not stand for that, and instill a sense of "us against the world", "fight for your brothers", etc... That has been missing...
Maybe I`m hoping for too much, but, it seems like a step in the right direction, to bring in the highly motivated, and talented individuals we have, on our coaching staff, and see if they can get these kids to buy into the idea, that if you do what we tell you, you got a good chance to get Superbowl rings... "We all did"...
    GO STEELERS!!!

Not sure what games you watch GG but I see alot of emotion .. Tomlin is someone that expects nothing but the the best from his team and the players.
