    I think Garvin beats out Wilson like he did last year and I think they keep 6 wrs and 4 rbs.

    I didn't explain here, but I include archer as the 6th wr as he will be pulling double duty there and at rb

    Any reason you went Wilson over Garvin?

    Good stuff, B&G. Curious, what do you see in Elkins that would have him get a helmet over say, Guy Whimper? Not implying that Whimper is a stud or anything...

    elkins is much more athletically gifted than whimper, plays with more intensity, and is a much better fit in the outside zone blocking scheme.... plus it all comes down to upside.. whimper has been around long enough that we all know he isn't getting any better, while in elkins, I can actually see a future starter

    D line worries me a bit (minus Heyward). Especially the lack of experiences at DE. NT doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy either. :?

    With that said there are plenty of things to be excited about. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the competition at WR turns out and seeing our o line come together. The thought of Bell and Blount in the backfield should be interesting and seeing the much increased speed on defense also has me pumped. :cool: Nice job B&G

    I honestly see it the other way around. Next year is Wilson's 4th year in the league and normally you know what you are getting by then. Garvin was a rookie last year and changed posistions so I think he is only beginning to develop.

    I agree. Wilson couldnt beat out a rookie Williams and the coaches seem to like Garvin. I also think DHB makes the squad.

    thought about it.... especially with them using him inside and outside..... in the end it was just the numbers game.... the coaches are going to have to make some tough descisions at a lot of positions......... lber, wr, d-line and cb are going to be hotly contested positions

    I don't see Tauren Poole making the team, Archer possible 3rd RB.

    and Mccullers? Big project here? Can the Steelers afford to make Mccullers a long term project?

    I was going to reply that there were 37 others who totally disagree with you, and then ask "btw: Who are they?" But your reply answered that.

    Most of the players you listed except Chris Elkins were familiar names. Finding another Ramon Foster,or possibly even a better one would sure be a windfall.

    Since a lot of us casual fans have not seen anything definitive on anyone, July 25 can't come fast enough. Then we all can get in the act.

    However , very possibly your 53 could be it day 1. Uh! Do you have the right to make some adjustments to that final 53 late August? :smiley1:

    One of the things I will be looking at is the DB bunch. Maybe there is a better option there than Golden. He's pretty good but maybe there is another UDFA there, like he was, who is better.

    I just wonder if now that will j. is going to TE meetings, will we keep the 3rd TE? I originally had palmer making it, but now think they may use that position elsewhere. we could still have blanchflower on the PS.:cool:

    quite possible...... we have a small handful of players that are playing multiple positions, and that position flexibility may allow the coaches to load up at another position... a lot of possibilities here

    Typically, they have a #1 and #2 NT, with a guy behind them who is NT/DE capable.

    Gotta root for a guy like Garvin! I don't know if he'll make the 53, but I have him over Wilson.

    QB (3)

    Ben, Gradkowski, Landry

    RB/FB (4)
    Bell, Blount, Archer, Will Johnson

    WR (6)
    Brown, Wheaton, Moore, Bryant, DHB, J. Brown

    TE (3)
    Miller, Spaeth, Palmer

    OT (3)
    Beachum, Gilbert, Adams

    OG (2)
    Foster, DeCastro

    C (2)
    Pouncey, Wallace

    Additional OL (2)
    Munchak's Johnson, Whimper

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    DE (4)
    Heyward, Tuitt, C. Thomas, Arnfelt
    NT (2)
    McLendon, McCullers
    OLB (4)
    Jones, Worilds, Moats, Carter
    ILB (5)
    Timmons, Shazier, Williams, Spence, Garvin
    CB (5)
    C. Allen, Taylor, Gay, Blake, Richardson
    S (5)
    Polamalu, Mitchell, S. Thomas, W. Allen, Golden
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    ST (3)
    Suisham, Wing, Warren

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Practice Squad
    N. Williams, Blanchflower, Zumwalt, Fangupo (if eligible)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Notes:

    - I have all 9 draft picks making the team or PS.

    - The biggest stretch, for me, is McCullers making the roster instead of the PS. I figure it comes down to him and Fangupo, and I just don't think Fangupo offers us anything, either in the future or the present. Keeping him over Ta'amu was an obvious mistake, and this is the year the FO eats it. With Cam Thomas having so much NT experience, he can be used just like Al Woods, and the way rookies (like Tuitt) are seeing the field more and more these days, I think the team can be comfortable going into a game with McLendon, Thomas, and one more (McCullers) who is unlikely to see the field unless they really want him to. Last year, our #3 NT (Fangupo) played only 13 snaps. And that was with our starter being injured for a significant amount of time. Even if our DL is getting worse, the position flexibility aspect of it has really worked out.

    - I had a tough call at TE. Palmer was a pleasant surprise for me last year, and after watching some film on Blanchflower, I like him a lot too. I can see him as the heir to Matt Spaeth. However, as a 7th rounder with zero hype, he seems like an easy addition to the practice squad, so if we stick him there we won't have to lose anyone.

    - I think this is the year Chris Carter gets it together and blows us all away by performing at an average NFL backup level. He beats out Zumwalt and deservedly makes the team, then goes on to offer little to nothing in the games.

    - Sean Spence leapfrogs Terence Garvin on the ILB depth chart, and Robert Golden doesn't cut it in the secondary, but Garvin and Golden both make it on proven special teams play. No Curtis Brown this year. Don't want to lose too many of our ST guys at once.

    - I left the DHB vs. JB debate for the very end, and thankfully I had an extra spot, so I didn't have to choose. JB offers more promise, but I really like DHB and Colbert's FAs tend to stick.

    All 7 receivers?? I know you think Will Johnson will be the #3 TE, and he might be on gamedays, but I think they love TEs, and they've got two good options at #3 with Palmer and Blanchflower. They'll want a backup.

    You know, I completely forgot all about McCain. I might have to update mine.
