So, are there any other 24 fans here?

My wife and I have always been big fans of 24. We were excited when "Live Another Day" was announced, and were not disappointed with the premier Monday night.

I've only seen a few episodes. It's one of those shows I really wanted to get into, because it's right up my alley, but for some reason I never found the time. It's on my list of series to get to watch.

I wasn't exactly a 24 addict on its original run, but I did enjoy it. I lost track of it the last 2 seasons.

But I'm really enjoying it this new series. Going only 12 hours might make for a tighter story too.

We actually missed the entirety of season 1, and saw part of an episode when season 2 started. We liked it, so we rented the first disc of season one and like it so much that a couple of weeks later, we had rented and watched the whole season. We were watching at least 1 episode a night, and some nights 2, which is more TV that we ever normally watch. We had to get caught up on season 2, but that didn't take long either. We've loved it ever since.

It's a great show with lots of great characters, but what it really comes down to is that it's all about Jack.

So I just got to watch this weeks episode. This is 24 just like I remember it. I was a little skeptical when they said it would be more modern, but it's 24 through and through.

The hacker guy Chloe was working with is turning out to be a real tool, and the blonde CIA girl needs to clue into what Jack is trying to do. It's been good and intense so far.

The wife and I have been 24 fans from season 1. Like the show. Just amazed at what Jack gets done in just one or two hours. Cant buy the real time aspect of the show.

I'm a big fan. The new season looks good so far. I'm also a big fan of the blonde agent. She was great on Chuck.

Yeah, my one minor gripe about the show has always been the real time not matching with events. Like plane trips across the country or over an ocean that begin and end within a one hour show.

My other very minor gripe has been about the tech terminology on the show, mostly due to me being a network and security engineer. They use a lot of very techie sounding things that are not at all accurate, but I know most people wouldn't give it a second thought.

Of course I have no idea if this will happen, but I had a random thought after last night's episode. They showed a bomb hitting a field after Heller went to Wembley. What if Chloe somehow managed to get into the system, reroute the drone, and feed a false video image back to Margot to make her think their attack was successful? 24 is famous for killing off major characters, so maybe they're thinking we'll expect that and it will turn out that he actually survived. Of course, this is probably wrong, but it just kind of popped into my head as a possibility.

    SPOILER:

So it turns out that was pretty much what happened. I thought it may be a false feed of a different explosion, but it was just a loop of previous video Margot had seen of Heller.

That was a really satisfying episode with the resolution of Margot's plot, but with 3 episodes left to go, it's still tense.

Mama Stark went out pretty easily in the end.

Of course, that just means the stakes went up to Double Jeopardy where the game really gets interesting. A device that can hack... anything?!?! Russians still hopping mad. Could be a wild 3 weeks.

    Pure speculation:

Any odds on Jack buying it this year? Could they be getting ready to pass the torch to Kate?

I wondered about Jack possibly dying, too. It seems like I read that Kiefer wanted that to happen back when the show was still in it's original run, but it wasn't from a trustworthy news site or anything like that, so who knows.

Could someone who hasn't really watched the series in the past pick it up at the beginning of this season without being completely in the dark?

Yeah, I'd say so. Some of the characters this season have relationships that go way back, and a lot of how Jack is acting now is based on things that happened over the previous 8 seasons, but each season is it's own story with a beginning and end, each taking place in a single 24 hour day. So each season introduces a new plot and you wouldn't be in the dark in that regard at all, you just may have questions about why certain things are happening, but those are largely unrelated to this season's story arc.

Excellent. I've wanted to get into it, but it's too vast to get caught up via binge watching. Thanks!
