    Season finale tonight.

If it doesn't include a certain scene, I'm going to feel quite stonehearted.

Such great source material that gets ignored, watered down, or cut out completely. Meanwhile, they kill off characters who live in the books, add scenes that serve no purpose, alter character's personas to the point they're that character in name only.

    Ugh...

I think I'd be happier if they just went the Walking Dead or True Blood route and just told their own story. "Based" on A Game of Thrones.

But hey, at least Shae's dead. She had it coming in the books, but I still felt a bit sad about it. I fist pumped at the TV version biting the dust. Horrible actress and a horrible, woefully mishandled remodelling of the character. (Don't get me started on Stannis)

And I'm supposed to believe Tyrion did what he did out of love for HER?!?!?! What the actual EFF?! What about Tysha? Did these writers even read the books?

No "Lancel, Osney Kettleblack, and Moonboy for all I know!"

    So in bizzaro TV world:

Tywin was clueless about anything going on within his own family. (And this after having him mock Jaime saying he wanted him to make children "named Lannister.")

Shae was a woman who actually loved Tyrion until he spurned her. Then she went all "Hell hath no fury..." And, well, who knows why she was in Tywin's bed?

Tyrion seems to have forgotten his first wife completely. Kills Shae because... reasons. Then kills Tywin because he called a woman Tyrion just murdered a whore. A woman, who was in actual point of fact, a whore. A whore who sold him out and then bedded his father to boot! That's who you need to avenge?????

Jaime and Cersei sitting in a tree... UGH! (not the incest. The fact that he's still drinking the kool aid)

Back to Tyrion, why did he even go to his father's room to begin with? Weak motive. Time's a wasting. Get out while you can. But if they included Tysha...

And no LSH. Granted, maybe they wanted to save that for next year. But it NEEDED to cap this season. That's where it's most powerful.

Did they even read ASOS? Did they even read the epilogue? Did they read and think "Nah, this sucks as an ending?"

And then they troll us readers with the extra long pause of a black screen before credits. That's an evil thing to do, and they damned well knew what they were doing.

Mind you, I don't mind ALL changes. Some need to be done to compress time, or make it easier for the viewer to understand.

The Brienne, Hound thing tonight I was fine with.

They both got in bad fights. Both got messed up pretty bad. So they saved time by just having them fight each other and the Hound is left for dead after begging Arya to kill him. Meanwhile, Brienne may believe the Hound still has Arya and searches for them next year, leading her to the Quiet Isle among other things.

Including a certain grave digger... ;)

I know! My wife and I both said, "oh, that's BS!"

I agree about LSH. That was one of, if not the most, 'holy ****' moments of the books. I'm pretty stunned the last :60 of the show didn't end with that.

I realize that they can only fit so much in, but there were definitely some alterations that left me disappointed. I'm going to pm you about the gravedigger.

    LSH? Missing something here.

Didn't like the lack of Cold-hands with the Bran story. Way to quick to get there with no development of the Crannog Prince/Princess.

Where was the Dorne pieces we were hinted at having this season?

No problem with Tyrion's motives at all. Could have been a better death scene for her though.

Tywin not knowing about his children? B.S. they even established it earlier in the series that he knew about Jaimie and Cercie.

The whole side story with Theon and his sister coming to get him....blah

Can't wait to get my Sand Snakes on. :D

It's a shame a TON of material is being cut out - most likely for good, not just this year. But some of the stuff coming down the pike will be amazing if done well. A certain party crasher at a "sporting event" in Mereen, for instance.

And we'll be dangerously toeing the spoiler line towards the end of this season. Especially with the material being downsized, they're about to surpass the books.

Stuff pretty much confirmed as out:

Theon and Asha, er <gag> excuse me, Yara's uncles.

    Young and old "Griff."

No casting news for Arianne Martell (wtf???)

    No Kingsmoot.

    No Val (grrr....)

Tyrion passing GO and heading immediately to Mereen. Do not meet the Griffs. Do not meet Septa Lemore. And certainly do not go through a Greyscale plagued town.

    No Golden Company.

Maybe some of these will show up next year. But speculation is they're all cut to trim down the story. Which is a dickish spoiler in and of itself.

Oh well, Arya at the House of Black and White has me pleased enough.

Oh, and BTW to my book reading peeps:

If you want your head blown off and to see just how far down the rabbit hole goes, check this guy out. He has a Youtube channel and he delves into theories about the more intricate plots and conspiracies within the series. He himself admits he's probably wrong on some of it. But he IS well researched and connects dots you didn't even think of connecting. Just fair warning: You'll lose HOURS watching his stuff. It's addicting.

This guy has way too much time on his hands. Probably has print-outs and Westeros maps all over the room with tacks and string stretched across it too....

So this recently cropped up on Michelle Fairley's IMDB page. What what what??? :D (Avert your eyes if you haven't read up to the end of A Storm of Swords.) Granted, IMDB is not 100% accurate and hoaxes have happened in the past. But if this is true, one of my gripes is gone. :)

Interesting. The little girl that plays the young Stark(can't remember her name) did an AMA the other day. No spoilers or much of anything related to GOT.

Interesting, but also note the episode number.....

All the way at the end which lends some credibility that they might go ahead and stretch the material out a little longer because GRR is not even close to book 6 yet.

Felt like a 10 minute episode.

Can't comment on the ending without invoking book spoilers, so we'll leave it go for now. I'm just curious if they'll follow the book or go a 180 route on that "situation."

Cirian Hinds was really good this episode.

Cersei's flashback: as usual, they leave something out!!! :frustrated: A pretty important detail at that. Or maybe they're saving that one? /shrug

Best line of the night: "Can I drink myself to death on the way to Mereen?" (This is a book detour I don't really mind so much)

Can't wait to see Drogon if Viserion and Rhaegal are that big already.

Everything from here on out with Sansa is uncharted territory. Even we book purists are in for a great deal of spoiling... unless it's all concoted storyline having nothing to do at all with the book plot. Not sure how I feel about either option.

Bring on DORNE!!! I'm ready to get my Sand Snakes on. :D
