How can you have Howard Jones ranked ahead of Shazier, you have to consider the level of competition.

 

My only suggestion is to break guys down into 3/4 and 4/3 prospects as LB's and DE's when comparing them. It's tough to compare a guy like Shazier to Guys like Anthony Barr and Howard Jones as "OLB's" since Shazier will only play OLB on a 4/3 team and Barr and Jones are 3/4 OLB's. It would've been interesting to see how you would have had Shazier ranked against guys who play the same position as 3/4 ILB's.

The LOC, in my opinion, is irrelevant to how a player is playing w/ technique & how he's 'making the play'. My grades are geared more toward to how the player executes the plan & how he completes the task. I can't knock a player for the LOC because that's out of his control. Just simply put, he 'made' more plays than Shazier from a grading perspective

Thanks for the feedback! That's the tricky part b/c if Shazier would've went to the Rams, he'd be playing OLB. If Howard Jones went to the Seahawks, he'd probably see time at both. So, it's sort of tough to grade that way b/c you don't know which team will plan to do which with him. But I do see your point.. I tend to do that w/ the TE/HB postion

I think that may have been the first big praise for Shaq Richardson as a pick that I've seen around, but maybe I've been looking in the wrong places. I think you also complimented the TE pick, which you don't see very often... so really interesting to get this angle on the draft.

 

Thanks Thigpen82! It was frustrating to watch Richardson at Arizona b/c of how they misused him…but when he was allowed to press at the E/W Shrine game, he shined liked the sun all week long and actually outperformed Marcus Williams (NDSU) who came in highly touted. You guys got a gem
