Seems like every post you make on here ends with "8-8".

8-8 clearly isn't a great success but it's not near the failure it's made out to be around here. I was speaking more to the fact that this organization just doesn't draft corners that high...and I mean almost NEVER. So fans might as well just except it. And the perception that drafting a corner in the first round means they solved that problem for 10 years...1st rounders can suck too...they do pretty often. Sherman is actually a good example as I believe he was drafted in the 4th or 5th round...so "Studs" can come from anywhere...just have some faith.

Also the steelers have been very very very successful using the philosophy that they can get by with drafting CB's later in the draft (2nd round on). Considering Chad Scott in 1997, I believe, was the last CB (not saftey) taken in the first round...and before that they didn't take corners in the first very often either. They have been doing this since the beginning of the Cowher Days...and they've gone to the superbowl 4 times.

Aye, it's a qualitative/quantitative disagreement, in many ways. :read:

I think FeartheBeard said it best - the guy we got is better than the guy we dropped. And at this stage of the off-season, that's pretty much what I'm looking for in terms of roster moves.

Btw, I still hold Antonio Brown's little toe responsible for 8-8. Move that two in an inch and we're 9-7. 9 and 7, people.

well didnt they? am i mistaken... would you rather me say 16/16 last 2 years.. i can do that is you prefer? as i said dont tell the truth here or you will be deemed negative.. this is the only place the truth = negativity... if you are one fo the new posters make sure you predict at least 10 or 11 (12 is even better) wins and a trip to the super bowl (winning the super bowl and that elusive 7th ring even better) .. and the 10, 11 or 12 wins MUST include 2 wins over the ravens and 3 of 4 wins over the bengals and browns... if we play the broncos or pats you must predict we win those games as well .. losses have to be like flukes.. you know like to raders on a FG and to the dolphins on a week where ben is injured so you can blame it on bens injury and not on the fact wallace current team just beat us... lol... ok so i will ask differently ... picking up this below average CB will help us improve our 16/16 record over the past two seasons...

I suppose if it bothers you too much you could always root for the pats, since they got the players you want anyhow.

if you even knew...lol... i run a sports promotion business based in ohio .... if you knew how much business probably lose wearing steelers gear trying ot sell to brown and bengals fans.. dont care.. real steelers fans question things.. man of the "fans" here are just RAH RAH we're gonna win the SB "fans".. they are totally clueless.. they look at the team that went 8-8... did less then the better teams (broncos and pats) to improve and somehow they think we are going to win 11 or 12 games.. or win the SB... how? how do we go from 16/16.... lose as much in FA as we pick up.... have a potentially pretty good draft ... and many of the "fans" here have that taking us for 16 and 16 to super bowl contenders.. i guess im the guy that always bets with his heart than wet the steelers agains the spread for 16 games.. i always say people might not like what i have to say (in sports or business or life) but i will never lie and never pull any punches and again this year .. i see no way we win the AFC ... there are at least 2 or 3 teams that are clearly better.. and if people argue that they are just out of touch.. of course manning or brady could go down and alter that statement.. probbly both wont but that possible.. so then that put us inot AFC championship contention with about 8 -10 other teams in the same class as us... but im sure i will hear differently and how we are the favorites to win the AFC championship.. just aint so guys .. sorry to be the beacon of truth here..

thanks steel . i basically state the facts and many of the guy here hate to hear the facts.. they want you to say the steelers wil win 10 11 or 12 games and get to the super bowl.. anything less than that and you are negative.. many of the guys here confuse the truth with negativity... as you said i just state the facts .. and if its 8-8 thats a fact.. if its 16 16 thats a fact.. if we are a .500 average team .. thats a fact.. and thennnnnnnnnnn when i say last season we went 8-8 and ben played in EVERY game.. and the chances of him playing in every game this season is under .500 god forbid that rath.. again .. its not negative its the facts.. we are .500 over the past 2 seasons.. we finished .500 last season and ben played in every game.. now watch the mob here turn those FACTS into HINES IS NEGATIVE .. lol maybe HINES is the most honest poster here and as they say.. sometimes "the truth hurts",, thanks steel city !

    LOL...what???

Never called you a pats fan, I simply was helping you out with your turmoil and giving you a suggestion since you love to post about the players they have with glee while you love to dump all over the Steelers roster.

I stand by the next comment I posted about you never sounding like a Steelers fan......and you never fail to deliver.

Oh and btw....SteelCity was being sarcastic with you

I learned a long time ago to differentiate between honesty and negativity. Of course the strong majority of people will be on the positive side. That just makes logical sense. There always going to be the other side that is a little more negative and has a "Super Bowl or bust" mentality. I've never thought anyone from either side is anymore of a fan than the other guy.

Just as an example, and with all due respect to any Steelers poster I have come across, but TTF and deljzc are probably amongst the two most knowledgeable posters I have ever come across. TTF is more positive while del was a bit more negative/critical. Both are incredible insightful but in no way would I ever look at one as being "more of a fan".

A great message board (which this truly is) has to have both sides. I have always liked to look at any issue from both sides. As long as an opinion is informed, than I can respect it, no matter how positive/negative it may be. Being/Becoming informed is what this forum is all about.

Actually I wasn't. The fact we were 8-8 is a cold hard fact. I was just getting a chuckle that yes Hines indeed has alot of 8-8 comments. Funny, but it is truthful.

I may not agree with most of what he has to say, but I still respect his opinion and what he has to say.

    Hines,

You use logic I agree with and you seem like an educated sports and steelers fan. I'll explain to you the reason I think the steelers WILL have a winning season next year. They went 8-8 the pas 2 years this is true but do you truly believe it was lack of talent? OR underachieving? The fact remains that would of could of means very little...but the steelers in both of those years could have won many of the games they lost an 8-8 season can very easily swing to a 11-5 or 12-4 season had they won the close ones.

My point being they were never a team that was consistently getting out preformed by other teams, they stayed very much competitive and still beat good teams. The players they lost this year were hardly effective anymore, so we've pretty much already witnessed what they will look like without them (Clark has slow as hell and can't play anymore, Woodley was never on the field and in my opinion Sanders is hardly irreplaceable).

So i guess I wonder why I'm foolish for honestly believing a team that was always competitive...has a franchise QB and up and coming talent could have a winning season??

I think we could get just a LITTLE BIT more off topic...maybe. Let's get back to the transaction. Everyone here wants the Steelers to win, so everything else is just noise. OF NOTE: If you don't want the Steelers to win...just leave the forum, we don't need you here as this site is for STEELER FANS.

The transaction itself is just neutral. He may be great and make the roster. He may suck. The reality is this late, guys who are drafted late or are UDFAs you just never know. No one like Willie Parker enough to draft him. That worked out. We took Curtis Brown in the 3rd and it didn't. Put a jersey on this kid, let him work and earn it. Competition for spots is good, never bad.

hey ben great post and good questions.... well thanks for the compliment .. dont think i ever had one of those here... and i agree the steelers coudl easily have a winning season... maybe 9 or 10 games. but again i think they could just as easily win only 6 or 7 games.. as you said had they won the close ones they could have been 11-5 or maybe 12-4 .. thats might be a bit of a stretch... but conversely they coud have lost 9 or 10 or 11 had they LOST the close ones.. thats my point exactly .. the steelrs rarely ever get blown out .... again.. they rarely ever blow anyone out.. thus the loses ot inferior teams. we hang around thinking we will win against a bad team in the end and then we dont (ie oakland in recent history).... i gues the thing that scares me the most is .. we went 8-8 in 2012 and ben missed what? 4 games? so 8-8 with ben missing 4 games is understandable .. BUT... and this is what scares me... they went 8-8 again last year and ben never missed a snap (of very few) .... then i look at did we do anything to help and improve the team over that 8-8 team and i dont see it ... thennnnnnnnn i factor is .. chances are very slim based on past history that ben plays all 16 games this season... so thats why i think.. evennnnn iffffffffff we did improve the team .. and thats a big if with a s*&tload of question marks... but even if we did improve one game but if ben misses a couple games that he didnt miss last year.. we are back to 8-8.. i hope to God im wrong.. but i just dont see it ,,, but of course you are entitled to think the steelers will have a winning season.. i think they have a 35 % chance to have a winning season... 35% to have a losing season .. and 30% to go 8-8 again ... and you are in no way foolish for thinking they are competitive... they are .. most of their games are all decided by a TD or less .. thats my point.. they are competive.. they are in every game ... most every game.. they are close games and usually decided at the end by 4 points or less.. makes for an exciting team to watch .. but .. hardly a SB contender... and what i give them credit for most is that they started out 0-4 .. could have been so easy to just toss in the TOWEL on the season (sorry TTF) and they finished 8-4.. that showed tomlin didnt lose the team and that they never gave up...
