roster from SBXLIII

I just checked the roster from Super Bowl 43 and we only have 7 players left from that team.

Big Ben
Heath Miller
William Gay
Ike Taylor
Matt Spaeth
Troy Polamalu
Lawrence Timmons

This really tells me that we've gotten very young over the past 5yrs. I'm still sort of shock that only 7 still remain. I was thinking for like 15.

 

I'm a little surprised it's even that many. 6 years is a lifetime in the NFL

 

even crazier is the fact that spaeth and gay did leave for a while and came back

 

It may be 8 after June 1st if Harrison returns.

 

tell me we have lots a lot of great players and NOT replaced them .. young doent always mean great and in our case i think that applies.. we have replaced great players with good players and thus the 8-8 last two years

What about SB 45??? Even though we lost, we still got there.

 

Lot of guys don't like Gay but I do. He seems to always come up with a big play at a much needed time when folks are down on him the most.

 

Like Gay as well. People are always busting on him but he is not as bad as people make him out to be.

Starks, Kemeatu, Hartwig, Stapleton. The four of the five positions that have dogged our performances since this game... comparing the superbowl team with our current roster, all of those positions are equal or upgraded with younger players.

(I'll give Colon a pass just at the moment, because at least one Tackle spot is still a work in progress.)

Willie Parker and Carey Davis. Upgraded.

Hines Ward and Santonio - there will never be a replacement for Hines' skill set, but Brown is an upgrade on Holmes.

Defense is too new to comment, though I'd claim Cortez is better than Bryant McFadden.

I agree that young doesn't equate with better on its own, but a lot of the younger players need a bit more time to even be able to be compared with the likes of Harrison or Farrior.
