Others have pointed out that the Steelers like to have 4 QBs for pre-season, to have enough passers in practice. And Jones was ineligible to participate for the rookie camp, so they had to bring in a few new arms just for that.

True this.. point was we have potential backup's in the wings then comes the draft /FA's and tend to over look quality players we have and put guy's like kay front and center. Lets polish what we have.. could add our WR's to this scenario as well.

Landry Jones looked baaaad in preseason games, he looked lost. We have cut QB's who have looked twice as good as Landry Jones looked.

Brian St Pierre was a 5th round pick and he stuck around for years, Steelers aren't cutting a 4th round pick after one preseason, zero chance of it happening.

That's ridiculous. He looked like a rookie. Could that be because, wait for it, HE WAS A ROOKIE???!!!

He got his most extensive playing time in the Carolina game and the results were mixed. I thought he did some good things early in that game and then he made a few rookie mistakes later in the game. BIG DEAL. It happens to rookies. Let's see what happens with him in year two before we throw him on the trash heap. Do you also want to cut Jarvis Jones after his less than stellar season? After all, we've cut linebackers who looked better. Don't get me wrong, I think we were all disappointed in JJ's performance but I also think we're all ready to see how he progresses this year after being given the mandate to get stronger by the coaching staff. I don't get all the vitriol and hatred for Landry Jones.

well at least we are only wasting money on kay .. we wasted a draft pick on landry jones... maye if we can get our receivers to carry garbage cans for him to hit he will be a hall of famer...

I'll answer this like Dalton did Morgan's lame statement down at the Double Deuce.."Opinions vary"

No it doesn't. But one cost us a 4th round pick that could have been used on a real need. The other one didn't.

Here's another 2 things great about him being from UC. If he doesn't make the team the Bengals will grab him up so that he can make their thug roster. If those convicts don't want him then surely he will fit right in on the RATS squad. I would consider Corryville just a step above Tijuana. It's such a lovely place once the sun goes down. Open season for robberies and excessive vandalism.

whats this big need that we have and didn't fill with that 4th rd. pick. backup qb was a huge need at the time. remember our geriatric duo? there wasn't a lot of talent sitting in the FA market at the time. don't blame the player he didn't draft himself in the 4th, but everyone wants to hate on the kid for it.:cool:

I don't hate him. I hope he turns out to be a good back-up. I just didn't see it from the highlights of him on youtube. Looked more like highlights for Justin Brown the way he had to make some amazing catches from bad throws. That's all, no hate from me.
