Zumwalt will play OLB

Per Mark Kaboly, it makes sense they need more depth at OLB than ILB it would seem. Zumwalt plays with a attitude he just needs to bulk up to play OLB. Also Richardson and Zumwalt won't be at OTA's later this month.

 

I read he has been going back and forth between both so far.

 

He will probably be a swing backup/ST player for us. Can play both OLB and ILB well enough to be good depth, but excels at ST's.

 

Yeah he is like Moats. I wonder if he can push Moats for his job this year? To me that would be pretty impressive.

 

it wasn't a terrible year for ST's i didn't think, just an up and down year for that group. heck i was ready to fire danny smith and find a new one at first. then they did some good things too.

of course AB was responsible for some of that. he's such a weapon that way. i almost hate to not use him on punt returns. i know your against that, but man when you have a guy that sets records as the first guy to ever get 1,000 receiving and returning thats a special talent. archer will be exciting to see. he said he didn't return punts last year because of the ankle injury. i'll bet he can. maybe use either or from time to time?

anyway zumwalt is growing on me more and more. i didn't hate him but was luke warm.

i could get onboard with the ST's earning they're keep and creating TO's and about 6 TD's on the season. i'd do the snoopy dance, and that you don't want to see my friend. LOL.

 

I like his spunk AND his nasty streak. The Steelers are obligated to have at least one LB who's just plain mean!

 

I have said from the beginning after having watched his highlight tape, that I see a guy who better fits at the OLB. Now that being said, that was mostly seeing him in passing situations. I would like to know how and if he can hold the corner in clear running situations.

I know a lot of people say he needs to bulk up, and I agree that he needs to add some muscle without a doubt, but I think people need to put it in perspective. The kid is 6'4" tall and is at 235. Carter is 6'1" tall and 245, but he is entering his 4th year in an NFL weight program. Give Zumwalt 2 years with the goal of bulking and I would guess he could be 250 without it being too much of a problem or costing him speed.
