I have the Steelers winning the AFC North at 10-6, and my breakout player for 2014 is Markus Wheaton he will make fans forget about Sanders.

He's gonna have to learn a new move. Right now it is so easy to play against him; you just lead him outside and he will run himself out of the play. He has to have an inside move or be quicker and drop better.

10-6 IS POSSIBLE.. but i think 6-10 is just as possible... 11-5 is possible.. so is 5-11.... we will win 5 and lose 5.... the other 6 are the ones decided by 4 points or less and tells the season... wheaton needs to keep his fingers healthy before he can do anything

I'd make the case that this is the same for every team in the AFC North - if not most of the NFL. Barring perhaps one or two, the power balance has been all over the place for the last few seasons.

For example, Seattle will have a bad season, if refs start to call their PI. Denver will struggle if Manning goes down.

If we get out pass rush sorted, throwing teams some looks that unsettle their passing game, and - above all - EXECUTE the gameplan; and if we get an early rhythm of offense with our new batch of RBs and WRs, then we have the chance to do very well.

I'm not going to expect complete consistency, and I fully expect to be watching the team from the safety of the foetal position on the floor like I did all of last season.

from what I have heard about his off season he has added muscle and not lost a step. if anything they say he looks quicker. I think he learned a lot last year.

I think we will win the North. The Bengals underwent some changes that I think could set t hem back. Then again, Geno Atkins could be healthy and ready to roll again. Still, I like the Steelers. Our schedule favours us this year.

Shazier will be in the mix for Defensive ROY, but Clowney went to a great situation, and if healthy, with all the hype on him, should get it. Aaron Donald should also be in the mix too.

If our offense can do what they did last year, I really believe our defense will be better this year. Here's another tip to MT - DONT START 0-4! Coming out of the gate against the Browns, this shouldn't be an issue.

This should be on a sign hung above the tunnel exit just before the players run on to the pitch at Heinz Field.

Hope they start Manziel, rookie QB's don't fair well against DL, would be fun watching him get run down and beaten to a pulp all day.

Yeha, Manziel in his first pro game against the Steelers. Would be fun to watch. :lolol:

Still, Hoyer is pretty vanilla, plus, they should be without Josh Gordon. Should give us the chance to see what Justin Gilbert is all about too.

Well this thread is basting in optimism... rightfully so after ending 2 seasons @ 500. To advocate we win the division in the middle of May is somewhat a stretch but again i like the optimism. I'm going to take it alittle slower going to follow the OTA's ,minicamp, T-camp and p-season before i start moving outward on the limb. I do predict we finish the season better than 8-8. ;)

The key for a successful team this season is to stay healthy. We have has serious injury problems the past two seasons, and have paid the "8-8" price for them. We started last season without Bell and Miller, and then lost key pieces in the first few weeks of the season resulting in a 2-6 start. We got relatively healthy and finished the year 6-2. Two years ago we started out healthy, then got the injury bug leaving us without Troy (or anyone on the OLine) and making guys like C. Brown and Josh Victiorian to play a lot of meaningful snaps down the stretch. We finished out that season really poorly, which killed a pretty solid start.

On paper we seem to have a better roster than both of the last two years, and if it weren't for injuries both of those teams could easily have been playoff teams. I won't take a guess as to what the record will be, but if we stay relatively injury free... then we should make the playoffs pretty easily IMO.

yeah every team in the AFC North except cleveland.. dont thing any way in hell they win 10 or 11.. but the other 3 probably.. dont see the ravens under .500 .. but the bengals and steelers could easily finish under .500 but its a wide open division... i agree with you there..

far be it from me to be negative or a spoiler .. but you can look at the 8-8 and say we had some injuries.. orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can look at it and say ben basically played every important snap ... our most important player.. and its unusual for him to play all 16 games and we still only finished 8-8... so it can go either way ..

Yes, this is putting the cart before the horse, we don't even know what the final roster will be :lolol:

But, it's May and nothing better to do! Have at it.

    SB champs of course :towel:

That was just a fluke injury with Wheaton, he will do just fine.

    My early prediction.
If the Steelers lose the opening game to the Clowns this forum will implode with Fire Haley, Fire Tomlin, DL is too old and Trade Ben now threads.

I know that's not really going out on a limb being that most everyone here probably knows it will be that way.

I'd be interested if anyone thought differently.

bengals lost both OC (no big loss ) and DC (major loss) so could hurt them at least early in the season
