Here's my mock for next week. I think it addresses our needs and gets some value in later rounds Please weigh in with your thoughts and what you agree/disagree with!

1st Round (15) - Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State - Not a shocking pick here, but I don't think we'll pass him up if he's there. Physical CB, good in run support with above average quickness and great ball skills. I'm reading that Fuller is emerging as a front runner for the Steelers, but I'm going to stick with Dennard. I'd be happy with any of the big 3 CB's at 15.

2nd Round (46) - Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss - Of the 2nd round WRs, I think Moncrief is the most NFL-ready. At 6-2, 221, he's a big physical WR who runs good routes, has the speed to get open over the top, and is a physical blocker. Reminds me of Anquan Boldin and I'd love to see this guy in the Black and Gold. Some may say 46 is early to draft him, but there's no way he's there at 97.

3rd Round (97) - Christian Jones, ILB, Florida State - A sideline to sideline player who is a physical tackler and athletic enough to drop into coverage. A three down ILB that the Steelers covet to pair with Timmons. Some may think this is too early to go ILB, but Jones presents great value here and is hard to pass up and I think there are too many question marks at the position and the later round guys seem to be 2-down players to me, which we already have in Vince Williams.

4th Round (118) - E.J. Gaines, CB, Missouri - I'm expecting a double-dip on CB and I think Gaines presents great value in the 4th. He's undersized (5-9) but his production speaks for itself. He's physical against the run (like Dennard) and possesses strong coverage skills. He held Mike Evans to 4 catches for 8 yards and also had a good showing against Jordan Matthews (2 catches for 8 yards in first half until Mizzou went into prevent with a 3 TD lead).

5th round (157) - Ronald Powell, OLB, Florida - Some injury and work-ethic concerns with Powell, but that also gives him large upside at this stage of the draft. We need depth at OLB and Powell showed explosive pass rush moves and also the ability to drop into zone coverage when healthy at Florida. Will benefit from being in a good locker room and has the potential to develop into a really solid player.

    5th round (173) - DeAndre Coleman, DE, Cal -
At 6-5, 315, he's huge and is strong against the run. Although a little tall, he could potentially be a NT as well so could provide some flexibility when it comes to depth on the defensive line (similar to Al Woods). Could be a great fit as a DE in our scheme as he is very strong and the best part of his game would be what we ask of him...stuff the run. I had him in my pre-combine mock a few months back and I'm sticking with him.

6th round (192) - De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon - We've got our RB of the future with Bell and signing Blount adds some depth, but Thomas can be our change of pace/3rd down back and also provide us with a guy who can contribute in the return game. I think Haley will find a way to use this guy and design some plays to showcase his speed. Cheaper to have a rookie in this role than it is to resign Stephens-Howling, who is coming off that injury.

6th round (215) - Marcel Jensen, TE, Fresno State - At 6-6, he presents a big, athletic target at TE, which this team needs. He demonstrates a good balance of pass-catching ability and blocking...something we can't say for Spaeth. He has the size to contribute on special teams as well. His stats declined a bit in 2013 as Fresno opened up the offense and plalyed 5 WRs instead of Jensen, but he's still a big, athletic target that can learn from Heath.

7th round (230) - Shaquil Barrett, OLB, Colorado State - Worth taking a flyer on a pass-rusher that we already have intel on since Joey Porter coached him last year at CSU. He had 12 sacks last year and Porter can continue his development of this guy when he gets here. He was a four year starter and has a high motor, which we'll be able to coach up to continue to develop him. Played some ILB as well at CSU so could be a versatile option for us after a year on the practice squad.

I like the first 2 picks, not a fan of taking the 2 Florida State LB's and the Gaines pick there will be better players available IMO. Most of the picks are solid though.

2 OLB and 1 ILB. Both positions where we need depth. I'm not convinced Moats is a viable option and who knows about Spence. I think we will definitely draft 2 LBs and the 7th rounder is just a flyer because he was a Joey Porter protege at CSU.

I'd like to at least see moats before I make a determination about him and so'oto too. I'm not sure but I think they keep carter around too. garvin,Williams and molls at the inside spot , if not moats there as well. I like barrett a lot. van noy is my pick if he's there in the 2nd we grab him. pierre-Louis looks pretty good for the inside too, but there are others I like.

I like it. Would rather get CJ Mosely in the 2nd and Montcrief in the 3rd, but I agree with the positions addressed. Didn't know that about Porter's protege but I like it as a late pick.
