As a fan, I wish it were this weekend. I have a bunch of things going on tomorrow but I think the draft should always fall in April and not May.

Anybody else wish it were still this weekend as it has almost always been the last week or two of April?

I'm sure the Agents love it so long as their prospect doesn't find himself in legal trouble. I doubt the players like it being later but so long as they end up on a team it won't really matter that much in the end. Probably just additional sleepless nights. Owners and GM's get more time to do the shuffling.

    Thoughts on this change?

It doesn't matter to me what weekend it is on. Honestly, if I was making the call, I would push it back to the weekend prior to Memorial Day to allow most schools to be complete by that time.

I think its a crock that it was moved into May. Would definitely prefer to have it in the last weekend of April.

Same here. Maybe it's the sentimentalist in me speaking, but it just doesn't feel right having the NFL draft outside of April.

I agree it should be in April, the Bills GM said he didn't it being in May also. There's a rumor they want it to be a four day event I hope not.

Like TTF said in another post, we should be
talking today about our draft choice. Poor
job NFL, just another arrogant decision
made by the league. Mark Cuban may be on to something.

Well then, I guess since we have some extra time on our hands.

    How about 2015 draft

I might have a one or a two Tar Heels on my radar

Also the qb from UCLA is a good one We need to plan for Ben's career winding down

I hope we do better in 2015 because we missed on quite a few of our picks in 2014.(let the rookies play)

Our draft position is indicative of our team on the field

No I'm okay with the change.

I don't like it. I haven't really heard the reasoning behind the change, but maybe they were trying to wait for semester students to be closer to graduation? I dunno, I'd think most of the potential draft picks don't like that extra wait time either. Also, I would think it's going to make it that much harder for the rookies to catch on and make an impact if they are pushed back in the learning process.

When's the first mini camp? I was thinking that was in May some time?

To my knowledge, the reason they claimed it was moved was because the Rockettes had Radio City booked from end of March through early May.

Yeah, TTF; I had posted a link in another thread for the show.
Now it is postponed until 2015 "due to technical difficulties with special effects and lighting".

Just think, two more weeks! I'm not nearly involved as I have been in years past, but yeah, I'm kind of losing a little interest as well.

this is nothing more than the commissioner's attempt to stretch the season and generate more revenue......... it's the same reason he pushed the super bowl to a later date.... if the pro bowl had more interest, he would've left it at 2 wks. after the super bowl

I think Mark Cuban was right. The NFL is getting too greedy. Its tough to imagine, but you may see the NFL start to slip overall. There is definitely a saturation point.

"Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered" doesn't apply to the NFL.

Slaughtered, no. But they can make the game and experience of football worse.

They have legislated a large portion of the physicality out of the game already. They have continually geared the rules towards offense. They will eventually have an 18 game schedule. They will eventually have a team in London, and possibly elsewhere globally. They have been to the point of being in primetime 4 nights a week. There is a saturation point and a time of overexposure. Growth will slow down, and could it eventually decline?

The players union won't go for a 18 game schedule, I could do without the Thursday's games the matchups have been bad.

The NFL was looking for a excuse to move the draft to May, I'm sure they could've found another venue to hold the draft in April if they wanted to. If the ratings are good this year Goodell will move the draft to May next year also, they want the headlines usually nothing much is going on in May for the NFL.
