Definitely jumping the gun. While it certainly could happen, he doesn't know anything we don't. There's a strong possibility Keisel is back this year in my opinion.

Would hate to see him play for another team. I'm hoping they get him back.

If he leaves no big deal, the Steelers only want him back as a reserve anyway. The Steelers aren't counting on a 36 yr old DE to play a big role especially at Keisel's salary demands.

I've got to agree. If Keisel comes back and plays a meaningful role then the team is in pretty bad shape.

I don't think Keisel will play for another team and I do think that the steelers are gonna wait until after the Draft to see what they can get before resigning Keisel or harrison

Yeah... I think they are backup plans, in case the draft doesn't unfold perfectly for us. Not bad backup plans, either. I think they could both give one year of decent role-player service.

Wow Dane the turd Burgler is basing his decision on hyperbole . Oh well I guess in this day in age nothing has to be real. The mere thought or mention
    of something becomes fact.

Its because the media knows how hungry the fans are for info... any info. Their views & re-tweets go up. Will anyone remember two weeks from now about this? Of course not.

I don't quite agree with this. If the role he plays is to help bridge the gap to help a young, talented player get his legs under him, then I see excellent value there. Where I see a problem is if he's the guy, with no "next guy" being groomed on the roster. That said, I wouldn't advocate paying much more then vet minimum for him to play that bridge role. If he wants a large check, I can understand why (more wear and tear, etc), but I would just move forward with Williams and Arnfelt.

This is probably a case where it`s a good thing that "businessmen" run the team, instead of fans.
As much as my heart doesn`t want to let Keisel go, and to a slightly lesser degree, would like to get Harrisson back,
Somehow, the people in charge, have to make cold hearted decisions, as to when to let the youth, take over, and let go of the past.
That`s EXTREMELY hard to do, when you have an emotionally vested interest in a veteran, who has played well for you, for years, been a big reason for your success, and possibly has another one or two, in the tank.
I don`t know how they do it.
How to dispassionately, say.. "Yeah, you`ve given us your all, and we wouldn`t be where we are without you...We owe you.. But, We just gotta move on"...
Personally, I think Keisel is definitely worth a bit more than vet minimum, to be the "bridge"...
Harrisson... I dunno... He was my hero, while here, but I just realistically, am not sure his body can do what he wants it to, anymore, at least at the level it used to.
I sure wouldn`t mind seeing him come back, at vet minimum, after the draft, but I wouldn`t give him more than that, and I wouldn`t expect him to take more than 40% of the snaps, without getting hurt.
    Sad but true.
Keisel... It will KILL me to see him in another uniform, but it won`t shock me if it happens, And I won`t blame him, if he can start for another year or two, somewhere else... He`s earned it, and I think he can still do it.
    GO STEELERS!

I'll go you one better Bleed, what must it be like for those buisnessmen to look these players in the eye and cut them loose when they have stated things
to the effect of "We want so-in-so to retire a Steeler." or "We want (insert player name here) to spend his whole career with the team." How can you have an honest discussion about what's best for the team when there are certain players that are given that honor and others that aren't but maybe should be? That has to be a tough conversation or a tough thing to live with.

I think keisel as the bridge is more important this year because we have nobody else and 3 young DE's. heyward will be fine, but arnfelt and Williams will do better learning some things from keisel instead of Thomas. Thomas needs to work with mclendon to seal up the NT spot and learn some DE. keisel as a sub and teacher to Williams since he was on IR last year is critical. arnfelt will need some help from him also as hopefully the new starter. heyward needs to concentrate on himself instead of trying to teach young guys at this point. once we get another year under these two young guys we will have enough info to see if we even need another DE in 2015 draft or not.

down the stretch if he takes care of his body with limited snaps during the year, keisel could be invaluable to this young group for one more year and the team. he can still play. he deserves more than vet min. I believe Harrison could bring some of this same type of backup ability and teaching for one more. I would offer them something like foote got last year. 1.5 mil. I think they still have some good knowledge and minutes left in them.

You'd think drafting a DE in the 2nd would not bode well for bringing Keisel back.

FWIW, Bouchette has been saying for months (when asked about it in interviews or in his blog) that it didn't look to him that the Steelers had much interest in bringing Keisel back. I guess you never say never, but right now it looks like he's right

Fairly doubtful. I can see Heyward & Tuitt as the starters. Cam Thomas in the rotation. Brian Arnfelt needs some more snaps this year. I think Nick Williams will probably go PS. I would love to have Da Beard back, but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't. Hoping he goes the Hines Ward route though and just retires. Hate seeing certain Steelers who laid in on the line in a different uniform.

I think his return was a strong possibility. The Steelers got lucky in that they got the one 5 tech defensive lineman in this draft who has a chance to start this year in round 2 yesterday.

Without something really unusual happening, he won't be wearing a Steelers jersey in 2014.
