Is Crichton going to play DE or OLB in the NFL? He's probably too light to play DE in a 3/4.

Yeah, he'd be an OLB. I'll change the title.

He was 270 at his Pro Day. He is a bit of a tweener in that regard.

All solid players. To me, Verrett may have the best coverage skills of any CB in this draft (for both man and zone schemes), but he is undersized in both height and weight, which gives me pause. If he were 5'11" 195, I think he'd be the top corner in this draft.

Then he probably wouldn't offer much as a rookie if he plays DE, he would need to add 15-20 lbs to play on the D-line. He could be a interesting prospect in the mid to later rounds as a OLB.

TTF - If I recall from the mock draft and some of your other posts, you sound like a big believer in Crichton. I kinda just saw him more as a 4-3 DE, do you think he can translate to our 3-4 defense?

I'm just not sure I see the athleticism to stand up as an OLB. So, now if you try to add 20 lbs and make him a DE, does he lose his explosiveness ala Adam Carriker?

At the combine, he was 273 and he and Clowney tied for fastest 40 with 4.53. Only two linebackers barely ran faster 40's. Telvin Smith ran a 4.52 and Pierre-Louis ran a 4.51. Not that combine 40 times should carry a lot of weight...just giving a reference to his relative speed.

I do like him as a 4-3 DE. He's a bit of a challenge in terms of evaluating how well he'd convert to a 3-4 OLB. He is much more of a 3-4 OLB than a 3-4 DE candidate IMO. He was 264 in 2012, so I don't see why he couldn't get to a more ideal weight after he's drafted. I'll put together some gifs tomorrow that may help make a case for his athleticism.

Crighton kind of reminds me of Woodely. He would be a big fat boy OLB.

His frame looks already maxed out. I don't think adding 10-15LB's would help him much to become a 3-4 DE. I wouldn't do it.
