He is getting Fat....That 240 lbs. is getting closer to a TE body with his frame....He may be eating his self out of the draft..

I don't know if its fat, but he is just too heavy. He's getting into Mike Williams territory. I know Calvin Johnson pushes 240 from time to time, but he is an athletic freak. Benjamin is not.

I would be very nervous if I were the team selecting Benjamin.

CJ is listed at 236 officially.

I honestly am under the opinion at the moment that Benjamin might actually have the highest ceiling of any WR currently talked about being in the first round.

I don't think Benjamin needs to be gaining weight, he looked slow at the combine.

I really don't think speed was going to be one of his best selling points anyway. He's supposed to be the receiver that's able to go get a ball that's out of reach for most DB's

Exactly this for me. Benjamin makes me nervous as hell. I'll go on record as saying I think he'll struggle transitioning to the NFL.

I concur with both of you, and I think 3rd round or later is the range where he starts becoming worth the risk. Until then, I would stay away and let someone else play the risk/reward gamble with him. There are too many high probability players in this draft to take Benjamin early IMO.

True but he will be more like a TE if he keeps gaining weight, I don't think I would draft him at #15. He could be another Mike Williams in the making boom or bust type of player.

The more I learn about this kid, the less I like him. STAY AWAY STEELERS!!!

That was a good way to commit career suicide. Oh he'll still get drafted but if there is any truth to that story, this kid will not put in the necessary work at the pro level. Wouldn't even think of drafted him if I am a GM.

Agreed. Not when there are plenty of talented guys out there with a great attitude and work ethic.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that this had more to do with reacting to the Thomas situation, and assessing the risk of doing personal workouts. My reason for not liking him early is that I see an incomplete player. He has the size and speed of a TE, without the strength. Sure he'll win a few jump balls here and there, but will he ever be a starter? I'm not sure that he will, and that's why I think of him as a 3rd rounder.

i too figured it wouldn't be long before this report came from his agent. reports like this and reports about ebron have some merit, is my guess. evans being ranked that high, suprises me too. i just wonder how nfl teams have these big guys ranked. i guess a lot of it would be what you expect to do with them and who you already have.

No big deal to me if the coach wanted to watch him workout he should've gone to his pro day. You can't blame these players after what happened to Brandon Thomas of Clemson torn ACL working out for a team.

Definitely not surprising that his agent would do damage control. His client blowing off a private workout could potentially cost him a good chunk of money.

My assumption is that it's likely true. I don't know if I'd consider it that big a deal or not though, without knowing the specifics. Perhaps his handlers had too much booked for him that day.

I can't comment on his work ethic because I don't know . I just don't get where all these "fat" comments are coming from he is said to be at like 4 or 5% body fat if that's true and muscle is heavier than fat. You might be able to question a lot of things but I don't think his physique is one of them....just sayin'

It's bush league to put that out there without mentioning a team. Looks like an attempt to drive down his draft position to me.

This is just a rumor Brandt should name the team or coach, stories like this come up all the time around the draft. I don't any of the networks reporting about this I call BS on this.

That's the norm for sports journalism nowadays.

I don't know...I think I heard it on SiriusXM NFL earlier, and it was probably mentioned on the NFL Network as it's on their website.

It wouldn't surprise me if his agent flat out told him to renege on the workout, if the story is true. If this was a coach of a team that isn't going to pick him in an early spot, they probably figured it would be best to back out and not unnecessarily risk an injury.
